A half dollar-sized successor (or perhaps former minion) of the Demon Queen that once held sway over the dominion of the Medical Wing spun a web in the upper corner of my office's window sometime between afternoon tea and library close. The kitten I found last night, brave, dear creature, not only lured it from its hideout, but proceeded to catch ( Read more... )

For some reason, this reminds me of the early episode of Jeeves and Wooster. How anyone could be averse to the idea of owning a kitten has never held one. Do you have any idea of what you want to name it?

Assuming I can persuade the Dean to allow me to keep it, I was considering Karma, for a female. I appreciate the irony.

For a male, however, I am stumped. Do you have any suggestions?

For a male? Perhaps after one of your favorite historical figures?

(*laughing*) Shakespeare is an awfully pretentious name for a feline, no?

Pablo? Escobar? They make one name for a man, but two great names for a kitten!

... actually, this conversation has given me a wonderful idea. The Dean despairs at increasing library attendance - the hope is that once the students are in the building, they may bother to learn something - but had little idea of how to accomplish it.

I suppose there could be a, a raffle of some sort, or a contest, to name the kitten. That would improve library interest, and likely attendance as well, as students would have a personal stake in the library's well-being, and visiting the kitten.

Ah, Wendy, you're brilliant! Thank you!

Oh~ I'm not that great, I assure you. Brilliant is a such strong word.

I've visited bookstores where they had a store pet. Eventually, people would bring strays there, and it became an animal shelter of sorts. Books are always better when reading them cuddles next to someone correct?

(*laughing*) One step at a time! We must inure the University and most especially the Dean to the thought of the kitten, until its presence is a given fact of life. Only then may liberties be taken.

I have little doubt the rascal will win over anyone who sets eyes upon it, however.
