Not in single spies but in battalions

I just wanted to thank those who have offered prayers in the recent past. My mom told my brother about it, so I can now let other people know. My dad had surgery on Friday to remove a cancerous tumor. It is the same kind of cancer that he had 16 years ago. The surgery went well and he is recovering nicely. The oncologist is all but completely certain that it is the same kind of cancer but we won't know for certain until the biopsy results come back this week. We were keeping it kind of on the down low because we didn't want it to somehow get back to my brother in Iraq before we knew all of the information. It just isn't something that he needed to worry about, you know?

Speaking of Iraq, I ask for continued thoughts/prayers for the Soper family. For those of you who do not know, Sgt. Matthew Soper (from Jackson) was killed in Iraq last Wednesday. This brings the war and the reality of what the troops are going through a bit too close to home.

And speaking of continued thoughts/prayers, I have YET ANOTHER request... I received a call from my friend Elizabeth's mother on Saturday morning. Elizabeth is in the hospital and was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. She is set to start chemo therapy when she recovers from the operation that she underwent to remove a large tumor from her chest. Her mother wanted to stress the positive that this is a treatable and curable disease but that prayers are definitely needed. Elizabeth just completed her first year of teaching 2nd grade at a school just outside of Washington D.C. She is an amazingly caring person and a great friend.

Once again, I thank you all for your prayerful support. If you ever need anything from me, please don't hesitate to ask!

Cancer sucks.
War sucks.
Pray for peace.

and scene....
