Post Oral Surgery update

May 01, 2007 15:15

So this morning I had the oral surgery to get my wisdom teeth removed. The oral surgeon said they weren't going to put me to sleep but they were going to sedate me with an IV. However I am sort of wondering if maybe I did fall asleep because I have no recollection of the procedure at all.

I remember the doctor putting the IV in and waiting for a few minutes and the next thing I remember they were telling me I had to get out of the chair and move to a bed for 30 minutes until the bleeding stopped. And then my mom took me back to my parent's house. The bleeding didn't actually stop for almost 2 hours.

It's sort of weird that I can't remember the rest. However I certainly have a lot of evidence that the procedure did indeed happen. My cheeks are swollen so I look like a chipmunk. there was a time period where the freezing was wearing off but the pain killers they prescribed hadn't kicked in yet and it was HORRIBLE. I was NOT a happy camper.

Now I am on painkillers, which don't actually take away all the pain, they just seriously dull it so it's a tolerable amount. I was also prescribed penicillin in the hopes that this will prevent any possible infections.

My tongue is bruised on both sides, and on my left side of my jaw there's a shadow forming, I think I might actually have a bruise forming on the outside of the side of my mouth. It's gonna look like someone punched me. I guess that's what happens since I bruise easily.

So to sum it all up, I hurt. I hurt lots and this sucks.
