Its all about perspective. When I was a kid, I hated getting roped into yard work. Mowing, trimming, all that shit. I didnt care in the least. Now, its years later, and I have a huge backyard and a huge front yard. Both have been overgrown with moss. The grass hasnt really been tended to either. And it sat wild and untouched for a year and a half. Joyous. Now its mine, and my perspective has changed. I rolled out of bed today and spent the day in the backyard. I hauled away old tree chunks. I weeded, mowed, seeded new grass, killed more moss, raked, cleaned up, fixed gutters, etc. Meg came out and trimmed all the bushes. Overall, a ton of progress was made, and the backyard is looking better and better. As I go, I’m finding that I have a latent need for my backyard to look awesome, and be well kept. I’m not really sure why its important to me, I just know that it is. I’m desirous of a really great backyard. Once its completed, I’ll focus on the front yard, and make that awesome as well. By the time I’m done, my property will be amazing. Simple as that.
Now I just have to find time to re-surface the driveway, paint and refit the entire inside of the garage, clean, stain, and re-seal the back deck, till and plant the flower beds, clean and seal the patio, and procure patio furniture.
And thats my short list. So much to do. At least I have plenty of time.
