I’m a little behind

Okay, so I realize I should have written something ages ago. Yeah, I kinda didnt post at all during October. Whoops. Well, October was a busy month. Here’s why.

To recap, I bought a house. Or rather I bought a house with M. Or even possibly, she bought a house with me. Point is, we’re homeowners. It was a seriously complicated kinda thing, but we came out ahead. 2,880 square feet, 1500 a month, for 30 years. In the renting world, we wouldnt have come come close to being able to afford anything like we got. And it is pretty damned spiffy. I needs some tweaking here and there, but its a huge nice house.

After months of mortgage work and such, we finally closed last week. We then scrambled to pull everyone together to get us moved, rented the truck, and managed to get everything moved. Now, Chris and I are almost done cleaning the old apartment, all our stuff is in the new house, and we’ve got tons of projects and organizing to do. Our days of doing nothing on a day off, yeah, they’re long gone. Even tomorrow, I have to be up early for the delivery of the washer and dryer, as well as the home owners insurance inspector. No rest for the wicked, even the domesticated wicked.

As for the house, in the last week, I’ve rewired outlets, replaced lighting fixtures, fixed a sink faucet, fixed a bathtub faucet, scrubbed the algae off the deck, pressure washed the deck and about half the concrete in the back, pressure washed the moss and algae off the rock terracing in the backyard, killed hundreds of spiders, hung blinds, caulked things, bored out locks, replaced locks, been shopping more times than I can remember, or would ever care to count, have what amounts to an entire paper bag of receipts, and have even remembered to sleep. Even more impressive is that the cable guy came today and hooked up our services. The internet is up, but have I loaded up the xBox for that Borderlands level cap increase that I was so hot for in my last post? Of course not. My xbox is still in a box in the living room. I hooked up M’s first. Shit, the Nerd Cave isnt even completely set up. Chris and I have yet to even think about putting together the home theatre for gaming and movie watching.

And of course, its 1AM. That means its time for the nightly walk of the house to make sure the doors are locked, so that I can shower, and go to bed. I really am tired. I swear. Exhausted actually. But, there’s more to be done. And there may always be something more to be done. Go figure.
