Thank you! It seems like the pain is increasing the closer we get, so it'll be a huge relief when that's gone.

I'm sorry G is in so much pain. The surgery will help and I hope his recovery is rapid and that he can bear the pain. I empathize hugely. Too bad he's not more of a TV guy.

Your daughter is being age-appropriately selfish. She will outgrow this! That is such a HUGE drive. I hope you have some good audio!

He has such a huge tolerance for pain, and he's very stoic. So, what he's going through now is really bad. Basically, chronic pain until the new hip is in, and the pain killers aren't doing much of anything for him. Maybe because the joint has no cartilage, on top of the arthritis itself ( ... )

This seriously makes me wish I had not given away my old walkman!
Walkman makes surprisingly good mp3 players. You just drag and drop your mp3s into the music file--no irritating iCrap involved.

Hooray for new hip! :) Boo for long recovery times. :(

I bought an MP3 player (someone's) for HSH a couple of Christmases ago. I may need to borrow it for this trip, because damn.

It will be so nice to have that surgery over with. The first two weeks afterward are especially hard (SO boring for him), but the pain will be a lot less. Fortunately, there is a TV in the bedroom. And he's planning to swipe one of the cable boxes for awhile.

The boys did a great job cleaning up after themselves. They're a nice bunch of kids-- it was a pleasant surprise!

Aw, thank you!

HSH is hanging in there, but also getting to the point where he has maybe 2-4 hours of sleep a night, so getting rid of that pain will make such a difference.
