This was it. After months of planning (and desperately reconfiguring parts that went wrong), the escape was tonight.
Lincoln had simply run out of time, and while Michael wasn't as ready as he'd hoped to be, he no longer had a choice. He either got Lincoln out tonight, or he lost his only chance. Any fleeting miracles had already happened.
Out through the infirmary and across the cable to the distant wall. Michael knew all the steps, but knew still better how delicately they had to fold together or risk failing.
Would the timing be right? All of the pieces and players just complicated a gamble already heavily based on hope.
Michael's thoughts raced over the details, again, again, again. The clock ticked on toward midnight. In a few hours, they would either be free or Lincoln would be dead
There was no end to what Michael would do to make sure the first part came true and not the second.
