I finished a bicycle ride today without having to stop to change the back tire. Only took 5 tries! Along the ride, I saw two hummingbirds chasing each other, and a snowy egret sitting in a tree. Egrets are so large that they look as if they'll break the tree. It's just wrong.
Speaking of which, there was an egret in our neighborhood park a few weeks ago. It probably thought it had found a nice pond, but no-- it was a big puddle in the middle of a soccer field, instead. The river is about 1 1/2 miles away, so this bird was way off base. Reminds me of the ducks paddling in the drainage ditch near my office, years ago.
The weather was nice today (66o!), so I put both cats out for a change. I usually let Tigger stay in because she'd old, but the outside was warmer than the inside. It didn't take long before she was haunting the kitchen window, though: "Surely, this was a mistake and they'll let me back in."
Me: You need to stay outside and play for a while.
Tigger: Play? Play? Have you forgotten that I'm old? I haven't 'played' since the Clinton administration!
She spent the evening sleeping all that off, and violating one of my pet peeves (or should I say, 'petty' peeves): Stop smacking your cat lips!
On to the weekend, and some desperation writing. Probably some yardwork too, but for now I'll try to focus on the other.
