To make up for a month of updates in a sentence (ish)

Nov 21, 2007 13:20

My wunderbar new temp agency1 - who, when I say of a given week, "give me work", quickly and happily does so, and to actually stimulating and/or well-paying locations2 - has settled me today at an architects' firm where most of the very slow penultimate-to-turkey day has flown by on:
  • recreationally writing away in my remaining active online forum-based RPG3 - golly, I'm a player (as opposed to a lurker) again...!
  • rereading the script for the community theater children's play I'm directing, choosing audition readings
  • bonding with an employee's Cardigan Welsh Corgi, "Harry"
  • plotting to meet eru when he arrives from UR for Turkeyness4
  • working, even; very minimal at the moment but somehow not demeaning - seems to depend less on the job than on the workspace, which right now is quite pleasant -- aka, perception of worth lies not in the activity but the attitude... mwaha.

Ah, so I did manage it in a single sentence, but it was a Merry sentence. With footnotes. Behold!

1being actually sympathetic to an actors' schedule rather than just claiming to be
2 getting new headshots in addition to taking the class I want without forfeiting travel expenses to visit, e.g., eru might prove so much easier than I thought2.5
2.5especially since it's now more than rumor that "Pink"-show will be reopening at... I daren't even say! 'cause it'd be so amazing I can't quite believe it.
3 AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HARRY POTTER!! YEA!!!
4have a good one, y'all! I, for one, after dinnering with familias, will see if I can turn that Buffy T-day special into a yearly tradition. It encompasses the affection and the controversy so wonderfully.

I dislike how I've fallen into that trap of adulthood I always dreaded as a child: so much preoccupation with money. The fact that this entry testifies to that to any degree makes me want to privatize. But it is a report. In any case, that's what the RPG is for: if not an antidote to the political/strategic-type thinking I do nowadays, then at least challenging it and approaching it philosophically. I think a hermetic mountain lifestyle would probably be a healthier one, but at least this one's puttering along on the expected levels at the moment.

I should give Greek names to these two different parts of my LJ-writing impulse: the one existing and reacting on this plane and the one that hovers somewhere else and analyzes the first.
