I have lost count of my April gigs now

Last night I escorted my little brother to a Good Charlotte show, while I had a pretty major headcold. Given how monumentally awful I felt by the time we got there, saying that it exceeded my expectations doesn't sound like much of a compliment, but it was a bit of fun.

Tales of moshing with teenagers, how Short Stack are totally not emo any more, and Joel Madden's crush on Chris Cheney. )

Myself and a few friends were thinking about going to see Good Charlotte just for a night of "I used to love this song" singing. But I think it was the Boys Like Girls and Short Stack supporting, as well as a lack of funds, that prevented us buying tickets ( ... )

My brother's just turned 18 and his taste in music is adorably retro, so he hasn't been to many gigs before. In fact, I think his first was when we went to Powderfinger last year and he insisted we get seats because he was scared of getting squashed on the floor. Which is ridiculous, because he is humungously tall, but after Good Charlotte he seems to really have a taste for moshing.

It was fun for what it was. I don't think you were missing out on a hell of a lot, though. Good Charlotte were fun for "I used to love this song" sing-alongs, but it wasn't really that much better than putting 'Anthem' on at a party and getting everyone to sing along. I was a little glad to see Short Stack, though. I wouldn't pay to go to one of their headline shows but I find them entertaining in a doofus kind of way.

Glad I could help solve the New Empire mystery. The kids should learn to google! Or even just pick up the album from merch after the show, I know they were selling them. Ah well.
