Last night I escorted my little brother to a Good Charlotte show, while I had a pretty major headcold. Given how monumentally awful I felt by the time we got there, saying that it exceeded my expectations doesn't sound like much of a compliment, but it was a bit of fun.
(
Tales of moshing with teenagers, how Short Stack are totally not emo any more, and Joel Madden's crush on Chris Cheney. )
But its good to hear that you had a good night and was with your brother with his first most experience - how old is he? =)
You cleared something up for me actually. At work today a rather annoying 16-something year old came in asking about "The New Empire CD". Even though I only work at Sanity, I still have a pretty good idea of new bands/CD's - but I had never heard of them before. When I asked if it was a band called "New Empire" or was she after a new CD of a band called "Empire", I was answered with much eye rolling and sighs. I tried again to look something up, apologized when nothing appeared and was called an idiot before she stomped out of the store (and before I could call her something else in return).
Ahh look, wikipedia now tell me that they are CD band with what appears to be Hillsong Church roots and a second album in August.
Kids these days, should google.
Sorry for the long-as comment, she just annoyed me and I was just reminded of the situation lol.

It was fun for what it was. I don't think you were missing out on a hell of a lot, though. Good Charlotte were fun for "I used to love this song" sing-alongs, but it wasn't really that much better than putting 'Anthem' on at a party and getting everyone to sing along. I was a little glad to see Short Stack, though. I wouldn't pay to go to one of their headline shows but I find them entertaining in a doofus kind of way.
Glad I could help solve the New Empire mystery. The kids should learn to google! Or even just pick up the album from merch after the show, I know they were selling them. Ah well.
