For once, a non angsty update...
Yesterday I was trying to help my mom create a powerpoint for this judeo-christian religions class she's teaching at church. She had started one and gotten stuck, so I booted up the computer and went to open the power point she had been working on. It wasn't immediately obvious which powerpoint it was because there were so many of them, which surprised me, since i only taught her the bare bones of using powerpoint a couple of weeks ago. So i asked her which one it was, and she said she'd saved it as chapter 3 something. And I looked at the list and there were probably 6 or 7 chapter three powerpoints, so i just started opening them, to see what it was she was trying to do with all of them. As I was opening them, I started to realize that they were all almost duplicates, just plus or minus a slide or two. So I'm sitting there trying to figure out why she has so many nearly identical powerpoints saved under different names, when I realized: Every time she made a new slide, she saved the document, which is smart. However, every time she went to save, she hit save as instead of just plain save, and when the computer asked her if she wanted to replace or update the original file she kept saying no. So she saved every step of her powerpoint under a new name each time. Wat?!? Who does that?? i don't understand wy the idea of just hitting save rather than save as is so hard, but apparently it is. Really, my mother just shouldn't be allowed around technology.
