Questions for y'all.
Let's say you have a writer friend (WHICH YOU DO). And let's also say you have a common given name (WHICH YOU...UM...might). You discover that your writer friend's newest book/story/play/what-have-you contains a major character with your name!
What's your reaction to that? Assume you're pretty sure the character isn't named after you or based on you. Is it cool? Weird? Do you just feel it's the price you pay for the name your parents gave you? Is the general experience of encountering a fictional character with your name different from encountering one created and named by someone who knows you?
What if the character in question is...not a "bad guy" in the maniacal hand-rubbing sense, but one with aims athwart those of the "good guy"? Does that make your reaction different?
Enquiring mimes and all that jazz.
