An Excursion

I had Friday off.1 I convinced leorathesane to take the day off, too, and play hooky with me. By "play hooky," I of course mean "take a 15.5-mile bike ride." Luckily, I have no spatial perception and didn't realize it would be 15.5 miles long; otherwise, I'm not sure I would've made it.

We caught the Greenway at Brackett Park, and thence to Lake Calhoun. We arrived too early to eat our picnic lunch, so a leisurely spin around the lake was suggested and accepted. After that, we were truly, madly, deeply ready for pasta salad and fruit smoothies, which we enjoyed at a lakeside picnic table.

On the way back, we got caught in the rain, which filled us with a vigor and determination that belied the distance already traveled. Fortunately, by the time we returned home, all was dry once more - and it was only 12:30! Which made it a perfect time to divest ourselves our wet clothing and take a nap. All in all, a delightful adventure.2

1. I appreciate the break but disapprove of having such a blatantly religious observance while working for the state government. They don't even try to be subtle; it's called "the Easter/Passover break."
2. No, I don't know why this post sounds like a column from the premiere Lady's Home Journal. Possibly I blame the icon.
