I really need to update this more...
Hmm, let's see. Today was...well, work. Thursdays are always frustrating because I have to go in early (thanks to my Dad and brother having to leave the house at 2:00 for school/work, and my Mom being at work until 4pm, and me having to be at work by 3:30). However, my boss DID mention to me today that she'd like to start having me clock in early then and clean equipment, which is fine with me, because...well, I'm there ANYWAY, and even though I tend to bring homework with me...one hour isn't that much homework done, anyway, so you know, whatever? An extra $7 doesn't sound too bad to me, particularly with Kakkoicon.
Had a screaming baby earlier, but that was okay. He's only three months old. Not his fault. My fault for not knowing what he needed.
I saw one of my old kids, Brooks and Brea, again today. Brea was the first time I'd ever had a baby when I first started my job, so it was a SHOCK to have her come in and be WALKING. She's so big now! They both are! I never realized how quickly kids grow up until I started working at this job. It must've been weird for my parents...
One nice thing about having that time stuck at work on Thursdays? Sometimes I get writing done. I got a good chunk of a Fakir fic for
31_days done today, using tomorrow's theme. I think it's actually turning out really well so far, which is...a relief for me, since Fakir scares me to write. I've never felt as comfortable with his voice as Mytho, Autor or Ahiru. Chris Patton is
officially coming to NDK now (Monica Rial, too, they just haven't gotten a bio and picture for her yet), so I'm feeling like I should probably work on both the Fakir and Ahiru fics concurrently, just depending on who I have the inspiration for. (...Part of me is tempted to write some Fakiru fics and say "they count for both!" and put them into both sets, but that almost feels like cheating. XDD) I should finish that Fakir fic tomorrow (too late for tonight, I think) and post it up on
brightblueink. Hopefully there, and not...here. XD;;;
Also, HAI GUYS, GUESS WHAT? I DISCOVERED THIS NEW BAND THE OTHER DAY. THEY'RE CALLED THE BEATLES.
...You think I'm joking, right? Well, I am, but not exactly. I've always been, well, bad with modern-day music (I know the hits....sometimes...), and I'm pretty pathetic with stuff that came out before I was born. Well...there was a presentation in Music History II on the Beatles, and their stuff sounded really good (don't look at me that way! I HAD heard the songs before, just...only a few times), so I decided to go to Target and get the "1" album of all their hits.
I had no idea the song on the Target ads was a Beatles song. That's how out of it I am.
Needless to say, I actually LOVE this stuff. WHY DIDN'T I REALIZE THEY WERE THIS COOL BEFORE? I feel like an idiot. XD;;;
...Okay, one more thing before I end this crazy long post. The other day, I was reading tvtropes.org again (I love that site) and I found something that, crazily enough, might actually fit some of the characters on Poly.
It's called the "
Power Trio." Basically, the idea is based on the Freudian concept of Id, Superego, and Ego. From the article: "The id contains primitive desires (hunger, rage and sex), the super-ego contains internalized norms, morality and taboos, and the ego mediates between the two and may include or give rise to the sense of self and the well being of humans."
Essentially, it's three characters who play out some form of this: one that's very emotional or impulsive, one who's logical or cool, and another that's somewhere in the middle and provides balance between the two. Some examples that I think are interesting from the article:
American Idol
* Randy Jackson: provides a balance between the two extremes (Ego)
* Simon Cowell: Critical, finds something bad to say 90% of the time (Id)
* Paula Abdul: Supporting, finds something good to say 90% of the time (Superego)
Harry Potter:
* Harry: Mediator. Runs a bit "cooler" than Ron most of the time, but not as cool as Hermione. (Ego)
* Ron: Practical, but tends to run "hot." (Id)
* Hermione: The rational, cautious voice. (Superego)
And of course (IT'S EVANGELION, IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING FREUD!)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
* Ikari Shinji: Balance (Ego)
* Ayanami Rei: Emotionless (Superego)
* Asuka Langley Sohryu: Completely emotional (Id)
So what does this have to do with Poly? Well...I'd always wondered why our "OT3" of Autor, Rosette and Doumeki worked so well together, but...if you think of it in these terms...
Rosette: Reckless, energetic, has a violent temper, loud, impulsive (Id)
Doumeki: Calm, logical, often appears almost unemotional in some situations, often ends up calming Rosette and Autor when they're freaking out about something. (Superego)
Autor: Prides himself on being logical and intelligent, but also can be impulsive when pushed in a corner, and prone to allow his temper control his actions (Ego, but maybe leaning towards Id a bit)
I'm not 100% sure it quite works (since Autor really DOES tend to be impulsive--although that could be more how I play him than how he really should be), but...it kinda almost...fits. (The fact that they came together almost randomly makes me really surprised it worked out that way...XD;)
So yeah. Just an interesting little observation.
