Top Five Meme

Apr 02, 2008 02:47

Yes, I know I just posted, but Patrick posted a meme, and that's a momentous occasion (he needs to POST MOAR), so I'm playing follow the leader.

Comment to this post with a subject for a top five (ships, songs, books, etc) you would like to see my answer. I will post with my answers in a separate entry. Be as specific or as broad as you'd like.

Ooooh, good one! I should've asked Patrick that.

In no particular order (outside "what came to me first":)

1) Yamato "Matt" Ishida from Digimon. He was the first cartoon character I really had it bad for. And I mean really, really bad. As an 12 year old (I think?), I was so crazy for him that I came down with a bad case of Fandumb. I wrote self-insert Mary Sue fics. Oh, the self-inserts. (One of my friends even wrote one where my Mary Sue was married to Matt. Actually, if I remember right it was very, very good. It's a shame good writing had to be wasted on an unabashed Mary Sue.) Not only did I do that, I participated in bashing poor Jun for stalking Matt (Lord knows I'd probably be stalking him too), and when Sora became officially with him...well, between the fact that I was a Taiora fan AND a crazy Matt fangirl...oh, the character hate. The character haaaaate. Not to mention all the fangirls he had. (Actually, I think my tendency to avoid fangirling over popular characters and ships comes out of the Digimon fandom. XD ( ... )

Oooh, okay! I should warn you that i haven't been reading much lately, so...my...list might mostly contain old classics you've probably already read. XD;;

1. The "Queens Thief" series by Megan Whalen Turner. (The Thief, The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia, in that order.) MWT is my favorite living author. This series of books is absolutely fantastic--I highly recommend it to anyone. I should note that when you first start reading the series, the "fantasy" part might not seem to be apparent (it's there, but not in-your-face--at first it almost feels like historical fiction for a made-up era). Also, The Thief starts of a little slowly, but once it kicks in it's really, really awesome. You should probably read them in order--each book has at least one twist which would be ruined if you read them out-of-order. (I accidentally read Queen first, though, and I still enjoyed it, so you don't have to ( ... )

Thank you ^_^ I was just at the library today and was standing there staring at the fantasy shelves with a blank look on my face. I can never find anything decent unless someone has recommended something to me.

Yeah, I know how that is. XD;; I'm the same way with anime, I have to read reviews and stuff. Although occasionally I just randomly pick stuff, but that's only when I'm watching it for free (like On Demand or...well, renting's not free, but you know, it's cheap).

Ooh...man, that's tough. XDDD I think maybe I'll just give you the top-five most played songs on my iPod? I have too many favorites to choose from otherwise!

1. She's Got To Go -- Hotspur
2. Turkish Delight -- David Crowder Band
3. Wine Red -- The Hush Sound
4. Devil Inside -- Utada (Hikaru)
5. Best Of You -- Foo Fighters

...Although some of these I've listened to so much I'm almost a little sick of them now.
