I got back from Germany on Monday night. I found it a beautiful and friendly country.
I was there to cover a tobacco conference, so the night before--despite being in a jetlagged stupor--I wanted to trim my beard. Only before it was too late did I realize I didn't have the little plastic guide on the trimmer and ended up with a big streak of flesh across my cheek. So, the WHOLE thing had to go. My face is all naked and stuff now. I do look younger, just a lot fatter.
So, the only place I got a chance to explore was central Cologne (or as the locals spell/call it in dumb german-speak: "Köln"), and it was one of the more-beautiful cities I ever saw. I was only able to really explore the area around the main train station, which as it happened, was right across the street from a gigantic medieval cathedral, which was one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen. I reccommends.
Next stop, Paris.
