Well, on saturday i almost died... hmm, that might have been a little harsh to start with, but let's just go with it. anyway, i was going down to orlando this weekend to volunteer in this NSSLHA golf tournament to raise money and help a really good cause, but i didn't quite make it. I was riding with these three grad students, and we were on I-75, and our driver looked from the middle lane to change into the right lane, and the best that we can figure is that she kinda pulled her wheel with her to look, cuz we know she wasn't actually changing lanes. but, then she saw a jeep there, so she jerked the wheel back to the middle lane, but must have overcompensated or something, and we started going into the left lane. one huge problem: there was a semi there... not cool. so, she told us later, she had to pick the jeep or the semi, and since we were about to literally go under the semi, she obviously went for the jeep. so, we hit the jeep, and then spun back into the middle lane, crossing into the left lane (don't ask me how that time we avoided the semi, but thank the lord we did) and then we were out of control for at least two maybe three spins. Somehow the driver was able to get us off the road, where we, once again i don't know how, managed to go right between the branch and the tree. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but we looked at it later, and there was almost no way that we could have done that. well, it really wasn't a good deal, but of anyway that it could have worked out, we could have been a lot worse off. The girl in the jeep was taken away in a stretcher, but we think it was mostly shock. all of us were ok, just bruised and really really sore. I just thank the Lord that it at least turned out as well as it did... two totalled cars and minor injuries... if we had been speeding, or if we had gone under that semi, it would not have been the same story. oh, funny story that might have saved our lives. K, our driver was from Missouri, and when she was younger and it got icy out on the roads, her dad used to take her out to this hill, and make her drive down it fast then slam on her brakes and learn how to control the car when it was swerving all over the place. That is on one hand really scary, but he was always in the passenger seat ready to take the wheel if needed. We all decided that it prob. really helped us out. ok, well i'm gonna finish this up cuz i need to do some homework and head to bed. i have so much to do, and all i want to do is go to sleep! I just don't want to go to class... they're all gonna know cuz i was going for a conference for the exec board for nsslha, but oh well... we'll just see how it goes.
