hello folks! my
employer is looking to fill a senior technical management position. if that sounds like you, please read on:
the job description is
here.
don’t overlook the “Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in the quantitative social sciences” requirement; i don’t know how hard-and-fast that requirement is.
essentially, we're looking for someone to serve as an interface between the technical groups and upper management. my understanding is that a good candidate needs to be sufficiently technical to understand the needs and capabilities of the technical groups and sufficiently political/managerial to be able to work effectively with our immediate management and with other groups within the university. it seems likely that this job will center around meetings rather than coding; ideally, a consequence of this position being filled would be that my immediate superiors get to spend more time at their keyboards and less time in meetings :)
the existence of this position seems to be a consequence of various reorganization that’s currently taking place within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, including the launch of
a big new project; if this sort of thing is of interest to you, please apply!
