Today I got in a disagreement about something with a couple of people in their early 40s and I was the only one who was right! And it feels good. Really good. Of course, it's about something stupid and petty, but I don't care. I was still right and I can't wait to tell the two or three middle-aged folks they were wrong.
Well, you see, I was at a welcome home party for a guy who just recently got back from the war in Iraq, and there was a dog there named Wendy. I didn't hear what they said so I asked again, what's the dog's name? And they said, "Wendy, you know, like that old song...oh wait, maybe you guys (meaning Ben and I), aren't old enough to remember that....yeah, you're not old enough."
I thought for a second and I said, "Oh, you mean that song that goes, 'who's tripping down the streets of the city, smiling at everybody she sees? Who's reaching out to capture a moment? Everyone know's it's Windy.'" I told them it was a little different, though, since the song says 'Windy' and the dog's name is 'Wendy'. Well, two middle-aged guys kind of chuckled and both agreed that the song said Wendy, not Windy. Kevin, one of the guys, jokingly said, "It's a song about a girl, not about the weather." They kind of laughed a little and said something about how it's okay I thought it was Windy, because they were there "to enlighten me." Hardy har har har....well, I just dropped it right there, though I was offended, annoyed, and still strongly thought I was right.
And I was. The whole ride back home from the party I explained to Ben that I knew it was a song about a girl, not about the WEATHER. (I'm not retarted!) I told Ben it was a hippy name, the song is from the hippy generation, after all. So I strongly thought I was right, and as soon as I got home, I got on the computer and searched for the song's lyrics to see if it was Windy or Wendy. Well, guess what?! It was Windy!! The song is simply called Windy, by the band Association. So I was right and everyone made me look stupid and like I didn't know what I was talking about. Boy, am I pissed!! Ugh...just because I'm younger doesn't mean I don't listen to any oldies.
Now I can't wait to tell them they were wrong. Of course, it sucks now because it will be a few days before I can prove to them I was right and they were not, and by the time I am able to bring it up again, they will probably not care or remember, or they will just shake their heads thinking, "oh well, it's just a stupid song." That does kind of suck, but it's easy to act like I was taking it to seriously when they find out they're the ones that are wrong.
I just hate it when I'm in a group of people and everyone embarrasses me and tries to make me look dumb. I don't appreciate that AT ALL, and I WAS offended.
I know I sound really pissed about something so small, but it's just the fact that I was made out to look like a complete idiots in front of a bunch of adults who were all older than me...and they were the ones who were wrong. You can understand that, right? Oh well, I'm done ranting now. Glad I let all my frustrations out!
