Update for Wednesday September 3rd - Tuesday September 16th

Wednesday after the update I hung out online for a bit more, and then headed off to bed.

Thursday I got up, and felt a bit better so that was nice. Once I got up I got ready for the day then went off to my Contemporary Cinema class, which was pretty sweet because we watched some clips from Videodrome, and from Resident Evil so that was sweet. I left class, went back to my dorm, grabbed some stuff for classes later in the day, and then hung out in my room a bit more before I left for my Screenwriting class.
Screenwriting was prettyy sweet, and my teacher has to be my favorite teacher so far this semester because he's actually been in the business. He has experience being a screenwriter out in LA, he's met a lot of people, and he's learned a lot that he can share with the class.
I got out of class, and immediately went to hop on the bus to go to my Contemporary Cinema screening of the movie eXistenZ, a David Cronenberg film.
The movie was pretty interesting, but not Cronenberg's best.
I really wish we could have watched Videodrome though.
After I left the screening I went to the Den, grabbed myself a pop, and then went to my Spanish class.
Spanish went pretty well I thought, and afterwards I went to my dorm to drop off my stuff.
I headed over to Sahaj's place, and on the way stopped by John's to pick up some beer first.
I got to Sahaj's, hung out there for a bit, drank a bit, enjoyed some of charlemagne, and eventually headed over to Ben's place to meet up with Dan & Ben. I hung out there for bit with Dan, Tori, and Ben which was fun. We enjoyed some more charlemange, and I got to listen to Ben spout of A LOT of stuff about conspiracies and shit like that for a while, which was interesting but at the same time quite banal.
Once it got pretty late I headed back to my dorm with the thought process that I'd microwave some chilli, have my chilli, and go to bed.
I got to my dorm, put my chilli in the microwave, went to the bathroom while it cooked, and when I came out of the bathroom I was greeted by my door opened, the lights on and outside of my room was my old roommate (Tom), his roommate, and my RA.
Apparently Tom had to stay in the room that night since he was still assigned to it, even though he was living in a different room.
While we were standing outside my room my RA told me that my "new" roommate (Tim) was going to be moving to Mayflower for some reason...not sure why, and also while we were standing out there Tim came up, drunk as all hell.
I went in to my room, had my chilli, hung out online, and had to deal with my old roommate and my "new" roommate talk about random stupid shit.

Friday I got up at 11 so I could have a meeting with the hall coordinator, Tom, and his "roommate" about the new living situation of Tom living in a different room.
Well I got up for the meeting, but we ended up not having it because the hall coordinator was busy so I went back to my room, hung out there, and then went to the radio station to sign a few things to be on the radio this semester.
I signed the stuff I had to, then went to the registrar's office so I could add my Screenwriting class, and then met up with Dan downtown to get some lunch.
I met up with Dan, he found a place to park, and then we stopped by Konection so he could get some more rolling papers for his cigarettes.
I've been rolling cigarettes on occasion when hanging out with him, and I'm just starting to get the hang of it so thats cool.
Dan got his rolling papers, and then we went over to Which Wich to get some lunch.
I hadn't been to Which Wich in a while so that was nice.
I walked back to my building because I had to have that meeting with the hall coordinator because we rescheduled the meeting for 2 in the afternoon.
The meeting didn't last long...at least it didn't last that long for me that is because all I had to do was verbally agree that I was fine with Tom moving to this other room on the floor then I got to leave.
I hung out in my room for a bit, watched some tv, and then compiled a list of music to play that night on the radio. All while I was compiling my music my "roommate" Tim was moving his stuff out, which was a little akward, and we didn't talk really at all.
I gathered up my list, burned the cds I was going to be playing my stuff from, hung out in my room a bit more, and then left for Sahaj's place.
On my way to Sahaj's place I stopped by the Handi-Mart to get a Rockstar & some snacks then continued on my way.
I got to Sahaj's, hung out there for a bit, and eventually more people showed up to drink so I took in some of the festivities while I was there.
Yeah, I'm not supposed be drunk when I go in to do my radio show so I didn't get super plastered, I barely even got a buzz, but I drank enough to have a little fun before I left.
I hung out, took a couple shots, drank a little beer, played a quick game of beer pong, played the role of DJ while I was there, and then headed off to do my show.
I got to the station earlier than I needed to, but now I know when I should leave in order to get there with just enough time to spare before I go on the air.
The show I feel went really well, and even the General Manager of the station e-mailed me later in the week to tell me that he caught my show while he was cruising around and in the e-mail he said...
"Not only was your on air presence great, but your music selection was cool too. Keep it up."
So that was awesome.
Anyway I finished my show, and then walked over to Sahaj's place to hang out for just a little bit before going back to my dorm to sleep.

Saturday I got up around 5 in the afternoon, went to get myself some food from Burge, and then went to hang out in my room some more. I downloaded the new Star Wars game demo for The Force Unleashed, and also I downloaded the Dead Rising demo because I got the craving to slay a shit load of zombies in a badass mall.
The Force Unleashed demo was pretty sweet, and so is the Dead Rising one, but I really need to buy that game soon.
I hung out in my room some more, and then went over to Sahaj's a little later to drink quite a bit, and enjoyed quite a bit of the charlemagne too.
There was this kid there that was talking to me about random video games (because I had a Resident Evil shirt on), we got to talking about gta, and then he showed me on Josh's 360 one of the coolest glitches in the game known as "The Haunted Swingset"...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J6FWAA1pew&feature=related
I had no clue about this thing, but then again there's a lot of things I'm sure I don't know about gta 4.
It was a good time, and once the night started to wind down I headed back to my dorm to get some sleep.

Sunday I got up, hung out in my room, and eventually Chris (a kid that's been in all my Spanish classes so far except for this semester) came over to pick me up so we could go to his place to work on some online Spanish stuff together.
The stuff we had to do was really easy to take care of, and once we were done he dropped me back off at my building so that was convenient.
I hung out in my room some more, played a whole bunch of gta, and eventually Dan came over to use my computer to take a test online because his wasn't working properly.
Once Dan was done taking his test he dropped me off at Hamburg so I could meet up with some people for dinner.
Dinner was good, but then again Hamburg is just a really good place in general.
We left there, then went to Sahaj's to hang out for a bit, enjoy some charlemange, and then once it got close to about 8:30 we left for Currier to hang out in Grace's room to watch a new episode of Entourage.
It was a pretty good episode, and had some amazing Ari action in it so thats always nice.
We left Currier, and I went to hang out Sahaj's place with them for a bit until I went back to my dorm to hang before going to bed.

Monday I got up, and immediately started working on homework for my Film Authors class. I took a break to get myself some food, and then it was right back to my homework. I had to read a few things so yeah, it wasn't that much fun.
I later had to go to my Spanish class, which wasn't that bad.
Once I left Spanish I went back to my dorm to read a whole bunch of stuff about Iranian Cinema for my Contemporary Cinema class.
I rewarded myself once I finished reading by taking a nice long shower, which felt amazing, and then I relaxed in my room for a bit before going to bed.

Tuesday I got up, got ready for the day, and then went to my Contemporary Cinema class. I was really happy that I read the stuff that I was supposed to read because we had a pop quiz over the stuff in class.
It wasn't a lengthy quiz by any means because all we had to do was describe a little bit about Iranian Cinema, which I was able to do so that was cool.
Class was interesting because we watched a bunch of clips from Iranian filmmakers.
I got out of class, and since my Screenwriting class changed rooms to a room in a building right across from where I have my Contemporary Cinema class I decided to just hang out in the AJB commons area like usual while I listened to some music.
Screenwriting was amazing, and the new room is pretty badass too, but towards the end of class our teacher told us about a harsh reality that I guess I had to face sooner or later.
He answered a couple questions that people in the class were curious about...
Questions:
1) Do I have to move to LA?
2) What is the financial situation regarding being a Screenwriter?
Answers:
1) Yes. You'll meet a lot of people in the business, and you'll be exposed to the business much more.
2) Minimum wage for a Screenwriter is about 35K for a script...50K if it's a really good script, but then you have to consider that you've more than likely spent a year writing said script.
Yeah, it sucks.
Anyway I left my screenwriting class, and headed back to my dorm. I was just hanging out in my dorm for a while until I had to go to my Film Authors screening of "Sunset Boulevard", which was actually pretty sweet, and very well written.
I got out of class, walked over to the Den to get myself a Rockstar, and then went over to Sahaj's place to hang out there for a little bit.
I didn't spend too long there, and once I left I walked back to my dorm to get some sleep after hanging out online.

Wednesday I got up around 1 in the afternoon, and just chilled in my room for a while before I went to Burge to get some lunch.
Lunch wasn't terrible, but then again it wasn't an amazing feast because it was Burge food. I left the dining hall, went back to my room to hang out online, and then it was off to my Film Authors class.
Class went...well it went a lot better than the last week, but still it was a little lame.
I left class feeling alright, and went back to my dorm to do this update.
I got back to my room, and started to do this update.
I popped in BASEketball to watch...well to listen to while I did the update, but it just ended up distracting me.
It ended up getting to be pretty late so I just figured I'd do the update some other time, saved it, and then headed off to bed.

Thursday I actually managed to wake up for my Contemporary Cinema class despite staying up pretty damn late. Class was alright, we watched a few clips from "Post 9/11 Cinema", and we actually watched a clip from the newest Harold And Kumar movie so that was sweet.
Class ended, and I went to the AJB to hang out in the commons area like usual.
My screenwriting class wasn't going to meet because my professor was out of town.
Around 1:30 I left for my dorm, and while I was there I worked on some stuff for my Spanish class.
Once it came time I left to go to my Contemporary Cinema screening of an Iranian film by Mohsen Mahkmalbaf called "Kandahar", and it was pretty sweet.
I got out of the screening, and went right across to the library to finish up the Spanish stuff I was working on earlier, and to print it off.
I finished up at the library, went to the Den to get myself a fountain drink like usual, and then went to my Spanish class.
Spanish wasn't anything amazing, and it was really good to get out of there. We took a test, and I really think I didn't do that well at all so we'll see how that goes.
I walked back to my dorm, and about 3/4 of the way back it started to rain quite a bit, which didn't bother me that much.
I dropped my stuff off in my room, and hung out there for a little before going over to Ben's place to meet up with him, Dan, Tori, Frankie, Dylan, and a few other people who's names I forget.
We drank quite a bit, smoked a few cigarettes, I played some very drunk Call of Duty 4 and kicked ass all over the place.
Eventually Ben started talking about politics, and once you get him started on politics he WILL NOT SHUT UP.
He'll just keep talking, blah blah blah blah blah conspiracy this, conspiracy that, blah blah blah blah.
So once Dan, Tori, and myself had finally had enough of Ben's drunk ramblings we walked down to Tori's place to enjoy some charlemagne.
While we were there we talked a lot about college, future plans, shit like that, and then Dan & ended the night by sitting on the porch smoking hand rolled cigarettes and just talking about random shit.
There were a few times throughout it that I felt way too drunk, and a little sick but I got over it, felt good, talked some more, and then eventually headed off to my dorm.
I got back to my dorm, and decided to pop in the movie Big Trouble In Little China.
I drank too much pop, ate food, finished off my Golden Grahams, and just overall had a great time sitting in my room in the dark with only my television and my blacklight providing light in the room.
It was pretty fucking awesome...

Once it was over, I hung out in my room some more, and then went to bed around 5:30 in the morning.

Friday I got up late in the day due to the fact that I was up so late watching John Carpenter paint an amazing picture of the craziness that is Jack Burton's life.
Anyway once I got up I hung out in my room for a while, hung out online checking e-mail, and living viacrously through pictures on peoples myspace, facebooks...blah blah blah.
Eventually I was able to get myself to make up the playlist of music for that night on the radio.
I got some good stuff, and then decided to take a break so I went to Burge to get some dinner.
It was raining quite a bit during the day, which was pretty damn annoying.
I got all the music I wanted to play, burned them onto some cds, printed of a list of all the songs, and then went to see if I could catch the bus.
I went outside, in the rain, and right when I was headed outside the bus showed up which was nice because I really wasn't wanting to walk in the rain.
I got off the bus, went to the atm to get some money, and then I went to the Den to get break the 20 I had.
I broke my 20, and then went to hope on the bus to Coralville.
The bus was pretty interesting because there were two drunk librarians on board. They weren't the stereotypical librarians, they were male middle-aged librarians.
How do I know they were librarians?
It was a little odd how they presented that information.
Guy 1: So did Shannon have a good time last night?
Guy 2: Yeah, we've both been having a lot of fun these past few weeks.
G1: How did you land a woman like that anyway? She's a fox.
G2: Dumb luck I guess.
G1: A stone cold fox.
G2: Yeah, I don't know how I did it.
G1: Maybe she just has a thing for librarians.
Yeah, it was fun to listen to.
How do I know they were drunk?
Oh, you could tell just by the way they were talking, and by the fact that they were saying how they should drink at work more often.
Anyway I got off the bus at the Coralridge mall, met up with Jessica, and we went to go see Burn After Reading, which was amazing.
I loved it, and everyone in it did an amazing job I thought.
The movie ended, and Jessica & I both hopped on the bus together.
She had to make a stop before I did so I just hung out alone on the bus for the rest of the ride hoping I could overhear some other fun stuff that would top the two drunk librarians, but I did not.
I got back in to Iowa City, and immediately bolted off to Sahaj's place to join in on their party that they had going on.
It was pretty fun, and I drank a little bit too, but not a lot because I had to do my radio show later. I spent some of the time there trying to dry off because it was raining like a son of a gun.
Around 11:30 I headed to the radio station, and Rush was kind enough to let me borrow his umbrella which was really good because I had quite a ways to walk and I didn't want to be soaking wet for my radio show.
Well I had the umbrella to help me out, but that didn't help my feet obviously.
On the walk from Sahaj's to the Quad Residence Hall my feet got pretty soaked so when I did my show I took off my shoes and sock and left them in the room outside of the on-air studio.
During most of the songs I would go into the bathroom across from the studio to use the hand dryer to dry off my socks, and so by the time I was done with my show my feet and shoes were toasty warm.
Overall I think the show went pretty well so that was good...

The new "temporary" on-air studio in the Quadrangle Residence Hall is much smaller than the one in the IMU...

Oh well, it's not that bad because I just go in there at night, turn off the lights, and enjoy the sweet sounds.
When I finished the show I hauled ass back to Sahaj's place, and on arrival took 3 straight shots of wild turkey, then proceeded to drink quite a bit more and enjoyed some charlemagne as well.
I hung out there for quite a while, and then headed back to my dorm to spend some time online before heading off to bed around 6:30 in the morning.

Saturday I got up around 1:30, which was odd due to the fact that I really didn't get that much sleep.
Anyway after I got up I kind of felt like crap, and was actually starting to feel a little shitty the night before.
I'm pretty sure it was the fact that it was raining, it was cold outside, and when I was in the studio without my shoes or socks on my feet got pretty cold.
That feeling passed a little after I went to get myself a hot meal from Burge. It wasn't an amazing meal, but it definitely helped out.
I went back to my room, and didn't really do much. I just slacked off, and tried to relax in my room. I played some video games, listened to some music, and then a little later in the night I went over to Sahaj's place for a little bit.
On my way to Sahaj's I stopped by the Handi-Mart to buy a pack of cigarettes, and then I was back on my way.
I got to Sahaj's, and bought a cup because they'd bought a keg. I drank quite a bit in the time I was there because Dan was going to stop by after work so we could go get some beers and hang out too.
Dan showed up, and we headed off to Hy-Vee to get some beers and a pizza.
We watched a whole bunch of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia because Dan wanted to borrow the dvds so I brought them over.
I really need to go buy Season 3
I might do that this weekend sometime.
Anyway we drank, had our pizza, watched some Sunny, played some Star Wars Battlefront, watched a couple episodes of Superman The Animated series, and then I passed out on the couch.

Sunday I got up, and Dan & I watched a couple of episodes of Sunny before he took me back to my dorm. I wasted some time in my dorm, and actually managed to work on some of my Spanish homework so that was good.
I hung out in my room a bit more, and then around 5:30 I went to go meet up with Sahaj, Rush, Damico, Josh, Wei, Terry, and Jerica at Hamburg for some dinner.
Dinner at Hamburg was amazing, and usually is.
After we left I went over to Sahaj's with Rush, and Sahaj so we could enjoy some charlemagne and watch some episodes of The Simpsons because Rush just bought season 10 on dvd.
Around 8:30 we set off on foot over to Currier to watch Entourage in Grace's dorm room.
I thought it was a good new episodes, I mean there wasn't that much that drove new things to happen...well there was but they were just small things.
Entourage ended and I went back to Sahaj and Rush's place with them to watch a couple more episodes of the Simpsons, and to watch Man On Fire, which is fucking amazing I think.
Anyway I hung out there for a little bit more until I headed back to my dorm to get some sleep.

Monday I got up, and didn't really want to because I wasn't too psyched about Spanish or the school week in general.
Well I managed to make myself get out of bed, and when I did I just hung out in my room wasting time on the internet.
I figured out a couple things for my Spanish class, and then just wasted time before having to go it.
Spanish I don't think went terrible, but it was still pretty lame.
I left class, and was super hungry so I figured I'd stop by Burge to get some food, but for some reason there was another fire alarm going off in Burge so everyone was outside.
I don't think there was an actual fire because I'm pretty sure it's the fault of the construction thats being done to the building.
Anyway since I couldn't get any Burge I decided to go to my room, drop off my stuff, and then go to get some Pita Pit or Milio's.
I went on my way to get some food, and figured I might as well get some Pita Pit then go to Sahaj's to watch the Eagles/Cowboys game because Terry loves the Cowboys and Rush loves the Eagles so I knew it'd be more fun to watch them yell at each other than it would be to watch the game.
I ate my pita, watched the game, and then hung out there for a bit before leaving for my dorm around 1am.
I got back to my dorm a little after 1am, and once I got there I started to read some stuff for my Contemporary Cinema class.
I only read until around 2, and then I headed off to bed.

Tuesday (today) I got up, went to my Contemporary Cinema class which wasn't that bad, and then afterwards I went to the library to check my e-mail, and to write up a short Treatment for my screenwriting class.
A Treatment is basically an extended synopsis for a movie.
Mine wasn't as long as it should be, but I knew my professor wouldn't care.
Class was pretty good, but the whole time I was super stressed out because I felt like the idea I'd come up with for my screenplay wasn't going to be good enough so I stayed after class and had a good half hour conversation with Teal about my idea and how I was stressed because I didn't think I was going to be able to flesh out the idea into a full screenplay, but what we talked about really helped me out and gave me much more confidence.
"It's a process, it's not a result." -Favreau
That will always stick with me.
Anyway I left class, then went to Burge to get some dinner, and now I'm just sitting in my dorm doing this and watching The Simpsons and Family Guy, but now it's time for me to gather up some stuff so I can go to my Film Authors class...plus I have to take a shit so I should probably do that too.
