Upside: I now know enough to triage Pinuki's various cough and diarrhea well enough to decide if a thing does or does not require an off-hours run to the vet.
Downside: wow but this was fucking upsetting, and I'm not even done yet.
Pinuki seems to be the doggy version of those asthmatic/hyper-allergic kids who'll catch every possible virus. He's had cough, again, and we're being liberal with the potatoes. But both the vets and us will be much happier if the call frequency decreases, so I'm learning to Triage All The Things. Looks like what I know about human skin issues translates well enough for dogs, by now I'm I'm damn near fucking pro-grade at reading his gait, and now I read up on these two things.
I mean, when we realized the extent of the parasitic load we received him with, I knew we'll be dealing with the repercussions for life. It means I'm not really surprised, but it doesn't make it that much less upsetting.
