This gent is the man of the hour. The guy with the bemused smile, not the one with the mask and the spiky hair.
That's Manu Sareen (Danish Social-Liberal Party), Minister of Equality and Church Matters. He's the guy who has finally made same-sex marriage in church a reality here in Denmark.
I gotta mention Bishop Kjeld Holm to, though. For the past 18 years he has fought for same-sex marriage in the Danish-Lutheran church. Today he handed over the new marriage ritual to Sareen. The first weddings are scheduled for Friday.
The church is still divided over the issue though. Some see this as a tragedy, and have been very vocal about it. Even the bishops don't agree on the matter. Well, back in '48 when the first women were ordained there was a hue and cry as well. I hope that this'll become part of everyday life in the church without too much drama.
