Apparently there has been a minor uproar over something Stephen Fry said in a Q & A session following his BAFTA speech.

Then Ron Liddle adds a little snark
. Unlike Fry, this is pretty much what we'd call trolling on the ol' internet.

Do you think there's something to it? I'm not just thinking about Doctor Who (which has alway been intended as a show 'for the whole family' I believe), but TV drama and particularly genre TV drama in general. Is it basically kid stuff? And if so, does that mean we're infantile?

I certainly agree that TV (BBC and in general) could offer some more challenging stuff, but I fail to see how Doctor Who (and Terry Pratchett by gum!) stand in the way of that, which I guess is the real issue here.

I'll write some omre after I've thought about it.
