I shall post now. Happy, darkwingpsycho? :-D

I'm not rightly sure if I'm kicking NaNo's ass, or if it's kicking mine. I mean, wordcount-wise, sure - so far I'm owning it. But storywise, I feel like in 11,000 words I haven't really got anywhere at all. I think it's just that I have a lot more than 50,000 words of story in my head - but then, 50K is only about 100 pages. I don't think in novellas, apparently. This book is longer than that. (and there are already two more that come after it... that's right, I set out to write a novella and ended up planning a trilogy. Oops.)

Of course, I already know that the first 3,000 words at least are going to be the first thing to go in editing, assuming I ever get that far - I got done with the scene and realized that I didn't need it at all. So that's the first day's work, totally useless - except for word count purposes, of course. :-P that's the only reason it's still in there - that, and I don't delete a scene if it doesn't work for the story, because it could possibly be useful later. If nothing else, just because it helped me to feel out some of the characters.

I'm setting out with the intention of finishing (meaning, getting to 50,000) before Thanksgiving - because I know that I most likely won't work on it while I'm visiting my parents. And the further out I can get now, the better. Doctor Who Season 5 gets here Tuesday... I predict distractions.

(Speaking of distracting - I went and got me some pretty, pretty Eleven and Karen Gillan's hair Amy Pond icons. YAY, ELEVENTY.)
