blah blah blah

It seems like all I do on here anymore is bitch about football. And talk about tv shows. And sometimes rant about Power Rangers ;-D But honestly? nothing more interesting has been happening in my life.

My average day lately goes like this:

6:21 AM: Wake up, groan, hit snooze button.
6:30 AM: Wake up again, stumble blindly into shower.
7:00 AM: Blow-dry hair.
7:15 AM: Get dressed, do makeup.
7:30 AM: Eat breakfast - usually, a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with raisins and a thing of yogurt.
7:50 AM: Leave for work.
8:00 AM-ish: Get to work, turn on computer.
8 AM - 9 AM: Dawdle around, find something to busy myself with while I wake up.
9 AM-ish: Go up to the 5th floor to buy a Diet Coke from the snack bar.
9 AM - 10 AM: Call tenants to warn them of Brad's impending visit. If the number is actually good, and someone picks up, the conversation goes something like this:

Tenant: (sleepy voice) Hello?
Me: Hi, is this (name)?
Tenant: Speaking...
Me: Hi, (name), this is Eva with Real Property Resolutions.
Tenant: Uh huh...
Me: I just wanted to let you know that our inspector will be stopping by your home in (city) sometime today to do a routine inspection.
Tenant: Okay. Do you know what time?
Me: I'm sorry, no, I don't. Sometime today, that's all I know.
Tenant: Okay.
Me: Okay, have a nice day!
Tenant: Okay, bye.

Occasionally, they'll try to tell me about some maintenance issue (which I don't handle) or ask me some question that I don't know the answer to. Or complain about something - the short notice, the fact that they have somewhere to be (they don't have to be there for the inspection, we have a key to the house - some people complain about THAT, too. We're your landlords, get over it.)

The rest of the day goes like this:

10 AM-ish - 12:30 PM: do whatever. Make copies, scan and upload reports, file things, update spreadsheets, send out tenant notices, match keys - whatever needs doing.
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Go home for lunch. Make a Lean Cuisine, watch TV, etc.
1:30 PM - 5:00 PM: Same as before lunch. Leave at as close to 5 as possible.
5:10 PM: Get home, change into comfy clothes, check my email, watch the news.
6:30 PM: Wheel of Fortune.
7:00 PM: Countdown, or whatever show comes on at 7 that night.
7:45 PM-ish: Dinner.
7:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Watch whatever is on TV that night. If nothing good is on, read something or watch a DVD.
10:00 PM: Power Rangers.
11:00 PM: Brush teeth, wash face, take out contacts and go to bed.

Such a riveting life I lead. There are variations, of course. Like, sometimes I eat out. Sometimes we go to a TU football game. Sometimes instead of watching the news after work, I go to the store or to Borders or something. Every once in a while I'll go to a concert or something with my mom. A few weeks ago we went to a Shostakovich lecture/concert at TCC (it was really cool, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series) and before that, we went and saw CATS at the PAC (which was weird, but really good!)

I'm looking forward to Brad not doing inspections anymore, because it will mean I won't have to call tenants. I'm getting used to it, but I still have to psych myself up before and during every call list. It's not that bad, and I know that. I still hate it. It's the only thing about the job that I really and truly hate, and the fact that I have to do it pretty much first thing in the morning makes me really not want to go.

But, the reason I'm up writing about it right now and not sleeping is that I DON'T HAVE GO TO WORK TOMORROW. I get another day off. Hooray for Columbus Day, and jobs that take Government holidays! I'm going to sleep as long as I want, and then watch TV, and then maybe go to the mall and eat out somewhere! And monday is a good TV night. Heroes and Studio 60! Again, I don't get paid time off, which sucks. But I'm lucky that I don't need rent money or food money or anything, I'm mostly saving my checks and keeping a little to spend, so a couple of days off close together won't hurt me too much.

I'm in a writing mood, but I'm tired now. Hopefully that mood will still be around tomorrow, so I can use some of my free time to write something.
