Lead is cynical. Cynicism has helped him survive all these years -- it's not helpful to believe everything those crazy Ensigns come up with. He'd have gone crazy years ago. And this Lysa Dunter had always been one to watch -- apparently for good reason.

Shalla gazes at Dunter as she nods, face carefully blank.

From what they know, the Ensign has no reason to lie. But from what they know, she had no reason to shoot the mechanic, either. They obviously don't know as much as they should.

"I still don't understand," she says, watching Dunter closely. "Why did you shoot him?"

Syal glances up at VibroSword Lead, wishing he'd just sit down.

Attempting to ignore him, she looks at the woman as steadily as she can and answers, "He lunged for my blaster pistol."

Standing, leaning over the desk -- it intimidates the younger recruits. Lead's pretty sure it's working, but he adds a severe frown anyway for his next question.

"Why did you have a blaster pistol?"
