Quinn had been at cheer camp for about two weeks now and most of the counselors there didn't want to deal with her. Especially the female ones. One because she could be pretty bitchy and felt like she could get away with everything and that was mostly because her dad gave large amounts of money as donations for the camp. No one would discipline her ( Read more... )

Unlike the other counselors, Puck didn't know a thing about cheerleading, other than the fact that back in high school he found the majority of the cheerleaders hot. But Puck was a high school football coach now. The cheerleading coach at the same school he worked at told him one of the counselors for the summer cheer camp had got into a car accident. She was currently in hospital and unable to be a counselor after all, which meant they were desperate to find a replacement at short notice. That was where Puck came in. Apparently he didn't need to know anything about cheerleading since there were other counselors who could take charge of the camp activities that were cheer-related. His job was to be responsible for the general well being of each camper.

For two weeks he'd observed the campers and one in particular caught his eye: Quinn Fabray, the daughter of the camp's biggest sponsor. It was because of her father that all the counselors let her get away with all the shit she pulled. Her bratty attitude was starting to get a lot on ( ... )

Quinn's eyes snapped up when her nail file was taken away and she gave him a less than pleased look. She glanced away from him rolling her eyes when he told her to listen. Like that would work. And then she started to laugh a bit. "Seriously? You should care. I know you're the football coach at your school or whatever, but I'm definitely not some football player you can boss around, you'll learn that soon enough Coach Puckerman." His name was said with complete annoyance.

"So, I think we're done here and I have more important things to do than talk to you," she got up and stood, straightening her skirt.

"Sit your ass down." Obviously his approach to treating her like one of the football players on his team wasn't working, so he decided to try a different angle, softening his voice. "I'm not here to lecture you, okay? Just hear me out. Please." All he wanted to do was help her and offer her some advice because she had so much potential to be great.

She raised an eyebrow at him when he said please. She had heard he was such a hard ass and here he was saying please. Slowly, she lowered herself back down into the chair, crossing her legs again. "Fine, just don't let it take long. I have things to do," clearing her throat, she finally paid attention to him.

He just shook his head at her in slight amusement at the way she spoke to him like she was the adult. Now he finally had her concentration, he uncrossed his arms so his body language was less intimidating and rested his palms against the desk.

"I've seen you cheer. You're talented. You're probably the most talented cheerleader at this entire camp," he started off by complimenting her. "But you've got a serious attitude problem." And he was curious to know where it had come from. If it was just a result of being spoiled by her father or if there was some deeper underlying issues to the way she was.

"I know I am, none of these girls can hold a candle to me, it's pretty sad, actually," she then gave him an amused look. "Yeah and? I don't see a problem with it. Only you do."

Another problem of hers was that she knew how good she was and was downright obnoxious about it. It reminded him of how he was at high school.

"Those girls look up to you. They want to be you. Rather than be a bitch, you could set a good example for them. There are more than enough bitchy cheerleaders in the world. Don't be a stereotype. Be yourself." He had a hunch that it was an act, that there was a sweet girl underneath the surface.

She could be sweet, very sweet actually. It's just that no one ever saw it. Besides her parents. She smirked a bit when he called her a bitch. "Listen, I get your trying to do this whole counselor thing and really, it's cute and all that. But football and cheerleading? Two different things. I have to act this way in order to stay on top. If you're a bitch, no one messes with you. That's just how it is. Do you think the quarterback is some huge wimp? No, he's the one who screws with all the other kids so they fear him."

"It's a waste of time, you know. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience here," he sighed and raked his hand through his mohawk. "You might feel on top of the world now, but no one's gonna care about you being on top at high school once it's over. Just like no one cared about me being the biggest badass in school after I graduated."

"Well, that was you. Not me. And with the way you're built, as awesome as you look," she had no trouble flirting, didn't matter who they were or how old as long as they were good looking and with him, good looking was an understatement. "You aren't built like a quarterback, so that's probably why no one cared. I'm the head cheerleader at my school, people will long after still care about me," feeling pretty satisfied with herself, she pulled a sucker from her purse, unwrapped it and stuck it between her lips.

One of his eyebrows lifted at her comment on his looks and he had to bite his tongue from returning the compliment. Maybe she was happy to flirt with him but he could get into a lot of trouble if he initiated anything. And now he had to watch her suck something between those glossy lips of hers.

"Something tells me you haven't always been popular. That you didn't always look like... this," he looked her up and down. "Maybe you were even a loner. Am I right?" He just wanted to get her to open up to him a bit.

Quinn stopped twirling the sucker between her lips when he said that and just stared at him. She didn't speak for a minute before she was clearing her throat. "Listen, you're not my friend and you're not someone I feel like revealing my past to. So what if I haven't always looked like this? I look like this now and that's all you need to know. How about you keep your nose out of places it doesn't belong?" And this time she stood again, taking a step or two closer, until she was close enough to touch him, but she didn't. "You're hot and all, but you need to learn to just stop prying. Your career will thank you."

Puck didn't bat an eyelid when she stepped closer to him and wondered why she felt the need to keep saying he was attractive. It was kind of amusing. "You already said that," well, she said he looked awesome, which was close enough to calling him hot. "I'm sorry if I overstepped the mark," he apologized. "This is the first time I've been a counselor. I'm just trying to help, Quinn." He called her by her first name without thinking.

Hey, when someone was hot she felt the need to say so. A lot sometimes. "So what if I did? I felt like saying it again," she gave a little shrug and popped the sucker back into her mouth for a moment, rolling it around before pulling it back out with a little pop sound to talk again. "I don't need your help, Coach Puckerman," she was going to stick to calling him that. "I think after this though, you probably shouldn't be a counselor again," she smirked a little at him, eyelashes fluttering as she stuck the sucker back into her mouth again.

Okay, she really needed to stop sucking on that candy because it was distracting as hell. "Those'll rot your teeth, you know," he said with a little smile as he watched her bat her eyelashes at him flirtatiously. "And you're probably right. I suck at this."

"Not if you brush your teeth like you're supposed to. Trust me, I know. I suck on these a lot," she raised a suggestive eyebrow before she was moving away from him and grabbing her purse, throwing it onto her shoulder. "Not probably right, I am right. So, are we done here? You gave your pep talk, I listened and if anyone asks I'll say you've completely changed me," she had another smirk again.
