Firstly, hi.
Secondly, I've been rewatching Naruto and I have to admit that out of the - what - 4 main teams that are being shown, the ones whose dynamics I don't understand are Team 7 and Team 8 (i.e., Team Kakashi, and Team Kurenai). I don't understand how they can function as a team when they are clearly quite dysfunctional in that sense. Well, maybe I get a little of how Team 7 works. Basically, Naruto and Sasuke wait until the situation gets very dire before actually deciding to work together, whilst Sakura pretty much gets the easy job of screaming her respective team members' names when they get pummeled. (Take note: I'm still in the beginning stages of the anime.)
But Team Kiba/Akamaru/Shino/Hinata - that one I don't understand at all. It's like they are almost polar opposites. Kiba's brash and seems to care more about his puppy than anything else, Hinata's this quiet little bundle of pale skin and Byakugan epicness who can't talk in a voice any louder than how Kiba would whisper to save her life, and Shino...doesn't talk, except when needed. Or when he's required to rescue bugs from being tromped on by unsuspecting people (i.e. Chouji).
I mean, I don't think Kishimoto actually ever delved into the balance (or imbalance) of any team other than Naruto's and that's kind of a waste. Yet you do get to glimpse how Team Asuma works (considering the whole tradition, passed down from generation to generation thing) and you doo get the merest implication of how Team Gai could work. Both of them have extraordinarily good coordination and are well-matched as a group. Neji and Tenten and Lee actually seem to care about each other, for one thing. Like some sort of odd family haphazardly slapped together by fortune and fate (as Neji would intone). I'd have loved it if Kishimoto had explored these groups a little more, because I want to see how they work together and not necessarily separately as individuals (although they still do kick ass).
On a separate note, I have finally found a person who loves the Marauders from Harry Potter as much as I do - my Literature classmate Kim. She literally went on a spazzing spree not only about Draco Malfoy (potentially the most messed up person in the whole series), but then she also went, "You know who I may almost love as much as Malfoy though? The Marauders."
Insert me immediately straightening and grabbing her shoulder and going "YES! YES! YES!" while half-laughing.
In that one hour yesterday, she talked more than she has in the past year and 2 months. Shi Khai was amazed, and he's her classmate. "This is the first time I've ever seen you like this!" to quote.
