Beijing is back on the menu. It seems like I'm intrinsically connected to this magnificent city. I just bought tickets for Amanda and myself for the Javelin Throw and Track portion of the
Beijing Paralympic Games, held in the
Birds Nest Stadium, on September 8. I'm going to the Olympics! Ok, the Paralympics, but still.
Speaking of the Olympics: did you guys watch the Opening Ceremony? Holy crap that was extravagant. I'm really happy for the Chinese people, who finally get their well-deserved place in the spotlight. They're taking full advantage of it, too.
Amanda and I bought our plane tickets to Singapore; we leave on August 21 at 1am, have an 11 hour layover in Seoul (woo back to Seoul!), and then get to Singapore late August 22. The money's out of our account. It's official. From there we fly to Cambodia for 3 days in
Angkor Wat, and one of my life goals will be checked off when I finally get to see that wonder of the world. And our tickets are bought for that flight as well. A couple weeks later we'll be in Beijing, and after that we'll get our study on in Japan. I'm in the process of reserving a room in a guesthouse in Sendagaya, which is by Yoyogi and only 2 subway stops from Shibuya, where my school is.
Qatar Camp is 5 weeks over, 1 week to go. I think it'll be a very easy, laid-back week. It will include such fun things as lunch with Fu Laoshi, my 21st birthday, and sending the Qataris home. This past week was pretty good, if only because things were so much easier than they have ever been, albeit it made me feel like I didn't deserve the money I made. We basically had our 2 hour tutor time and then our day was over. The chaperons took over and started taking the students everywhere without informing us, and we're not required to spend our evenings with them anymore anyways. Our only un-cancelled trip was to the Kane County Cougars game, which was pretty fun. Oh, and the Asian students joined us this week! They're definitely a breath of fresh air, even if the Taiwanese kid in my class is almost as lazy as the Qataris.
And... end.
