Big Brown injured himself again and is now officially retired; he won't run in the BC Classic, and won't go up against Curlin, the only horse he was scheduled to face who might have shown whether BB could really run-- or not.  It's unfortunate that this year's three year olds were not particularly outstanding-- with the exceptions of Eight Belles and possibly Proud Spell-- making BB look like such a standout.  Now he'll retire lame at three and be overbred to produce way too many new Thoroughbreds with foot problems.  If Curlin had trounced him in the Classic, as I was pretty much hoping, then at least he might not have looked so appealing at stud.

Sigh.

So in about three years, let's start watching for those BB babies with bad feet, shall we?
