Musak day!

Okay, people, I am looking for the following songs and albums:

Sway 'This is My Demo' (LP)
Adele '19'
Orson 'Culture Vulture' (LP)
Beyonce 'Irreplaceable'
Page France 'Chariot'
Beirut 'Scenic World'

Also, I need to talk with you. I know you people. I know how crafty you are. The new Guillemots album Red will be out in March as will the new Elbow LP The Seldom Seen Kid. The new Gnarls Barkley album The Odd Couple will be out in April. I'm not saying to do anything 'bad', but if you happen to stumble upon anything related to any of the above, well, I would love you a lot. A WHOLE LOT.

In return what do I offer you? Well, I put up a four-song zip yesterday and the latest Frankenmix is out, so how about we do that?

The Wish for Something Better Mix

1. A song about being recognized -- Gin Blossoms 'Hey Jealousy' -- When this song first came out some of you hadn't been born, and Jesus is that a scary thought. Anyway, the first time I heard it I thought it said 'Hey Chelsea' and I was like how the hell did Bill's daughter get her own song? I want my own song. Yes, this was back when Bill was getting blow jobs in the Oval Office. I digress. This is a song about fucking up a really good thing and then trying to get it back. Good luck, sucker!

2. A song about an embrace -- Cory Branan 'A Bad Man Would Be Good for You' -- Let's be honest, a lot of men suck. Not all men, but a pretty damn large amount. Cory though, he embraces the fact that men suck. He tells you up front that he's a bad man, but he also points out that that's prolly exactly what you need after that last asshole. At least then there'll be no surprises!

3. A song that mentions ice -- Marilyn Monroe 'Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend' -- Square cut or pear shape, they won't grow a beer belly and belch in the middle of dinner or scratch themselves at inappropriate times. Hell, I prefer this sort of ice myself. Talk to me, Harry Winston!

4. A song about being lost -- Don Henley 'Sit Down Your Rocking the Boat' -- Yes, this is that song from Guys and Dolls, but it's done by Don Henley. To be frank I didn't even realize this song was famous, I just liked the imagery, but really, you're not much more lost than getting stuck in a boat on your way to heaven, even if you do have your dice and a drink.

5. A poetic song -- Stephen Fretwell 'What' -- This is a song about a shopping trip. Except not really. If the baseline doesn't grab you and Stephen's voice doesn't sound like the boy (girl) who loves you and wants to make a better life for you and with you, well, then shit, get a new (wo)man! In the meantime at least you have this song to remind you that you deserve all the wonderful things that life has to offer.

6. A song about weaknesses -- Space 'Neighbourhood' -- Okay, so the place where you live is kind of dirty and sketchy, and your neighbours might be suspect, but it's your home. We all know it's one thing for you to talk smack about where you live, it's something else entirely for someone else to insult it. Right?

7. A song about getting paid -- Stevie Wonder 'Livin for the City' -- A song about doing everything you can to just make it in this big bad world, because let's be honest, a lot of time people suck and life sucks and everything is just a big ball of suck. You work, you work and you wonder to what ends. Stevie doesn't know why we do it either, but at least he'll make you feel less alone.

8. A song about disenchantment -- Betty Harris 'A Break in the Road' -- This is a song about the man who did you wrong. I know, I've never heard of such a concept myself either. Seriously though, this is an old school 60s song about how what goes around and comes around and who doesn't love karmic balance?

9. A song about lies -- The Roots 'No Alibi' -- If you've seen it or heard maybe probably I did it, maybe or maybe not, I admit what I committed.

10. A magical song -- Zero 7 'Somersault' -- Even if you don't know Zero 7 (WTF?) and you've never heard of Sia's 'Breathe Me' (really, WTF?), you will love this song. It's beautiful and melodic and gives you hope that somewhere out there is a man who will feed other people's parking meters just because his heart is that good ;-)

11. A goofy song -- Hill of Beans 'Satan Lend Me a Dollar' -- I think the title alone pretty much tells you what this song is about. I love this song. It's absolutely hysterical to run to too, so watch out for phone poles and parking meters. I have to get the S2 soundtrack for Weeds.

Zip available here, including extras! (Like always)
