In my perusal of various video gems celebrating the dearly departed Bea, I've run across this video several times (the whole episode is great, I need to bust out the DVDs and watch it uncut).

She doesn't have what one would call a traditionally pretty voice, but she's got the emotion and ability to convey her understanding of the lyrics to the audience that just sells it, knocks it out of the park. So, of course, I've had Irving Berlin's "What'll I Do?" stuck in my head for a few days now and it's just one of those perfect melancholy songs. It's not overly sappy, doesn't feel forced, and is full of truth. Naturally, I took a peek into the iTunes store and found three versions (of many) that struck me and I scooped 'em right up.
Clicky for Rosemary Clooney, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and an mp3 rip of one Ms. Zbornak's version (megaupload).
What'll I Do?
Gone is the romance that was so divine.
'tis broken and cannot be mended.
You must go your way,
And I must go mine.
But now that our love dreams have ended...
What'll I do
When you are far away
And I am blue
What'll I do?
What'll I do?
When I am wond'ring who
Is kissing you
What'll I do?
What'll I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?
When I'm alone
With only dreams of you
That won't come true
What'll I do?
What'll I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?
When I'm alone
With only dreams of you
That won't come true
What'll I do?
