Okay, so I love Jurassic Park. Yeah, I know it's old. I know it's kind of cheesified in that !!!EPIC SUMMER MOVIE!!! kinda way, but let me esplain, Ricky. When this movie first came out (holy crap, 15 years ago!) I saw it at the drive-in. JP is one of those perfect drive-in flicks. The drive-in is just awesome in its own right. You're comfortably ensconced in your own surroundings, you don't have to wear cargo pants and carry a large purse to sneak your own food into the place because they pretty much expect you to bring your own food, you can personally control how loud the movie is on your own radio. There are also more prurient aspects of the drive-in, but I was there with Momma D, Brother Adam, Esq., and cousins (Puerto Rican Juan and Andre, naturally) making all o' that rather moot. So, you've got all this awesomeness in one place and then you're watching yourself this Spielbergian classic. Jeff Goldblum's hamming it up right proper. Samuel L. Jackson's in it for cryin' out loud and for reals, when that T. Rex comes a-callin' you can feel it in your bones. It's a full-body experience really and it was hands down totes rad and to this day, I still can't pass up watching it on TV even though I own the DVD (actually, I own the boxset of all three movies...even if the second two are inferior).
On the other hand, the first movie in that particular double feature choice was Jumanji and I'm not as particularly enamoured with that film. In fact, I don't think I've seen it again since that night. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I love me some Spielberg, Michael Crichton (R.I.P.), and watching movies in a car. Good times.

The Rustic, one of the only remaining drive-ins in the whole wide US of A.
