Survived my first Op!

Feb 13, 2006 21:33

Hoping this actually posts as I'm having to use my dial up at home which is dodgy at best...for example, i can access hotmail and read my mail - but can't reply to anything!

Anyway, I've not been around for a few days as last thursday I went into hospital for an operation. It was to see if I have the condition Endometriosis, and remove as much as possible if so. T'was my first ever general anaesthetic so I was very nervous but it all went fine...the surgeon did find Endo, and something called adhesions, both of which have been causing all my pain for the past few years. I was under for almost an hour while they removed it all, so I was in a fair bit of pain after and had to stay in for 24 hours due to that and the sickness/dizzyness from the anaesthetic. I now have 2 - 4 weeks recovery at home.

Hopefully this will sort me out for a while - Endo is the sort of thing that can't be cured, but as they've removed it all, it may be months before it comes back, or I could be ok for years. What they removed is womb tissue that grows in the wong place, round other organs, sometimes sticking organs together by forming scar tissue between them. At least, that's what I understand it to be, I'm no expert...yet!!

So I'm at home recuperating but improving really fast. I feel pretty good considering I was on the table only 4 days ago!! And it means I get to lie in bed reading books and watching daytime TV and DVD's - not too much wrong with that! So I'm rewatching my ER boxsets and Farscape season 1. When I'm not sleeping that is! Doing a lot of that at the moment...

Thanks to all who've sent well wishes, cards etc!! I feel most loved at the moment!!
