This is gross.
On Tuesday, we had Fuzzy neutered. Surgery went fine, he's about 95% back to his normal self, etc.
Except.
He seems to have lost the ability to potty outside. Now, ol' Fuzzers is nowhere near housebroken (Bichons are notoriously difficult to housebreak) but we're pretty vigilant about taking him on many, many walks and throwing him out in the backyard on his own, as well. But we've never had trouble getting him to go outside.
Apparently his testicles were connected to the "we're outside, pee now" neurons and now he's a disgusting mess. He's had HUGE accidents in his crate overnight for the past two nights, and we can't wash him until the stitches are out. We've rubbed him down with wet paper towels but it's just not helping. He is grimy and he smells AWFUL and it's all very upsetting. The mess from this morning was...ugh.
Tonight I'm going to take a squirt bottle to him and just keep spraying and wiping until he's less horrifying. I talked to the vet, and she said that as long as the stitches aren't submerged in water it's ok to wash the fur on his ass and legs, and even to wipe around the wound if I'm careful. I'm probably going to shave down the fur on his back legs and bum as well.
So I have THAT to look forward to. UGH TIMES ONE MILLION.
