Life is filled with disappointments... Big ones, small ones, some you can brush off and others that'll keep you awake at night... I guess there are some that leads people to do the unspeakable, it changes your life and while most are disappointments you can deal with, others can make you do drastic things...

When I am hit with another of those disappointments, what I do is ask myself - I have only this one shot at my life, am I gonna stop and indulge in this scar, or I move on, maybe receiving a bigger scar in the future, but living on with the hope of something better to come.
I truly believe in happiness. But I also believe happiness means different things to different people. When expectations are stretched too unrealistically to start off with, disappointments are bound to follow. That part will thus need to be managed as well.
One suggestion - just like managing a portfolio of investments, diversify your sources of happiness. I derive happiness from my mum's smiles, my loved ones' show of concern, the companies of good friends, accomplishments at work, community service, and more. This ensures that at any one time, there is at least something that will keep me smiling. =)
