Alright, look, I have started writing this post like three times in the last few weeks, because this keeps happening to me, and it has happened to me my entire life, and it makes me nuts. But just now I'm sitting here in the goddamn coffee shop writing ridiculous fic and enjoying the lovely photos of O'Lough and DDK and Scotty and commentficcing up

Since I've had similar moments of connection (including large family stuff) as a Catholic, you definitely shouldn't worry that you're saying identity is anything but our own. Because you are saying it is something we create ourselves. To me at least I thought you said that our identities mean something to all of us, and it could even feel similar when they're different, so insulting that is even worse than it already is. (Sorry for personalizing this but when you were describing how your Bat Mitzvah felt it just sounded so familiar I had to say it.)

That guy is an utter asshole, and I don't know if Mel Gibson and the Dior guy (Galliano? Who cares?) have anything to do with a sudden upswing in being casually anti-Semitic, but damn I hope it quits. And "not looking Jewish" is ridiculous; I know there's a physical stereotype but I don't think that's been even minorly accurate for at least a thousand years, that is so stupid I can't even comprehend someone saying that to you. I admire your restraint in not decking him or at least going into a full rant in the coffeeshop.

And now that I have rambled on... Go have fun with your brothers, you deserve it either way, but even more after crap like this. <3
