25 Random Facts About Me Since so Many People Seem to Want Me to Do This
I'm finally doing this 25 facts meme that has been taking over face book. I think I was tagged over 9000 times, so here it is...
1. I have extreme brand preferences which involves extreme loyalties and extreme shunning. It's why I'm typing this on Livejournal, which is the only blog for me. I also prefer Dasani over Aquafina, Crayola over RoseArt, Huddle House over Waffle House, Armour over Hornel, Hillshire Farms over Johnston, Old El Paso over everything else and on and on. Ask me any product and I could tell precisely which brand I prefer.
2. I have what I like to call a Geek Radar. I'm really receptive to people's good vibes and I can see someone and with out even talking to them, know that we're going to be friends. Strangely enough, this didn't happen with some of my earliest friends, such as Rachel and Ann, although looking back it did happen ith Courtney, so it must have developed later in life. But it's the reason I'm friends with Erica, Josh, Heather, and the Bickmores. I have a theory that it allows me to pick out some combination of good vibes and geekiness because the people almost always read.
3. As a history major, my favorite thing about history is Cause and Effect. I love to see the different causes of events in history. I love to pick out the major events in history: Greece, Christ, Fall of Rome, Black Death, Reformation, French Revolution, World War I. I love to find the economic or religious C&E of different things.
4. I love to look at Cause and Effect in my life. Here are some major causes in my life that I had no control over: Being named Kylara after a book character pretty much ensured my eventual descent in to geekdom, my mom taught me how to read at 4 and instilled in me a love of reading, my dad taught me how to conduct music at 4 instilling in me a love of music/marching band, moving to NC and not Nebraska, being in the Academically Gifted program in 5th grade pretty much guaranteed my history Major. Events in my life I have had control over: teaming up with Rachel to TP the upper levels, staying in marching band, asking James to the prom, taking Japanese at Western.
5. I don't even remember a time in my life when I couldn't read. I remember the other kids learning how to read, but I really can't fathom looking at the letters and just not understanding.
6. People who have had a profound impact on my life without knowing it: Mrs. Standridge, Jamie Gibbs, Terry Brooks, Anna, Justin, others.
7. I have a narrator who lives in my head. It's why I always think in words. When I want to go to sleep I have to turn off this function and try to think in pictures.
8. I have only ever been to one concert--The Offspring. I think I may have missed the great era of concerts, ie, the 80s. Almost all my favorite bands either have dead or split band members: Van Halen, Styx, Queen, Kansas. It's funny because my archnemesis always used to say I reminded him of the 80s.
9. Yes I have an archenemsis. His name is Ryan Martin. Life is a lot less interesting without him to compete with. I have never really been able to replace him, but I haven't seen him in forever.
10. I'd like to think I am pretty wise. I like to give advice to people no matter how much I sometimes complain about it. I feel like a mother to some of my friends sometimes. No actually, not a mother an older sibling.
11. I think that friendship is a requisite foundation for a relationship. For this reason, I have at one point in time liked, or considered liking (almost) all of my guy friends who weren't married at the time of my meeting them.
12. I had a weird dream last night about sleeping with Dwight from The Office.
13. I always remember my dreams, and they're almost always weird.
14. My almost OCD is growing. The other day, I barely stopped myself from going back to touch all 5 chairs I walked past.
15. I accidentally got hooked to The Bachelor this season. I really, really want Jillian to win, because I love her and she would totally be my best friend if we ever met. But I also like Melissa.
16. Some days I try to not be a geek for the entire day. It almost Never Ever works.
17. When writing or typing I subconsciously put Emphasis on certain Words by Capitalizing them. I never know why I feel like they need to be Capitalized, but they do.
18. I have this real desire to shark someone at something. I tried it once on Guitar Hero, but I'm not really great at Guitar Hero. I'm only Medium-hard. I could totally shark someone at Stepmania, but my other skills don't translate well to sharking. I think I used shark incorrectly at some point in this number.
19. I am moderately talented in a lot of things but I am profusely talented at few things: Stepmania, administration, planning, writing. These talents don't really showcase themselves very well. I know it mostly doesn't matter, but recently, I was sad because Avi is singing at Brian's wedding and everyone else is doing something to help, and I feel like I should be helping. But I thought of an awesome wedding gift.
20. One of the things I hate most about girls is how they are retarded at relationships because of their insecurities. But the gender doesn't really have a monopoly on being bad at communication or relationships. Bad communication is almost always at the heart of relationship problems.
21. Two things I've learned about myself and relationships recently are: I love fun. The person I end up has to also love fun and be playful and make me laugh and be spontaneous. Also, I do a lot of things, like being nice to people and acting in certain ways out of habit. When I'm with someone I want to act in all the ways you act when you're in a relationship because I want to, not out of habit.
22. The following people need to end up together. Period. House and Cuddy, Bones and Booth, Dwight and Angela, Michael and Holly, Casey and Derek, Rory and Jess.
23. I'm really good at foreign languages and memorizing things. I'm also really good at mimicking things that I hear such as accents or the way people say things. The bad side of this is that I pick up other people's catch phrases way too easily.
24. I can not stand asymmetry. Sometimes I lose games because my OCD and Competitive-ness are fighting each other. It's the reason I don't like even numbers. The middle of an even number is an abstract, while there is an actual middle of odd numbers. Also the word odd has an odd number of letters. I always hated taking Multiple choice tests, because I'd get distracted by trying to make my circles be in a pattern instead of the right answers.
25. I absolutely love pillows. I love all kinds of throw pillows. I love soft pillows and interesting pillows. My style is totally eclectic like a medieval, egyptian, oriental, byzantine, bohemian style, but I totally have a small pillow collection which will grow and grow and grow. I am totally putting throw pillows on my wedding registry.
