So I've been playing phone-tag with the local IRS branch for about a month now. The thing is, you can't actually call and TALK to someone there. No, that would be too easy. Instead, you have to call, get their voice mail, leave your name and phone number, and they'll call you back. It says 1-2 business days on the message, but it's really 4-5. The thing is, if you're not home when they call you, you're out of luck. They leave a message, you call back, leave a message, and wait five more days. The stupid thing is, I even specified when I'd be home. TWICE. Did they call then? Of course not.

So, I got fed up with it and drove 25 minutes to El Monte, to accost them in their actual office. I got directions off Yahoo!Maps, and they were wrong. The street I wanted didn't intersect with the street I was on, and I had to go two miles, make a U-turn, and come all the way back before I saw the sign (only facing that one direction) which pointed to the street I wanted, through some other street. So I went that way. Came to my street. Turned right. D'oh! The freeway entrance, or a different street. Take the different street. Go a mile before U-turns are allowed. U-turn. FINALLY find my destination, in an unmarked building that looks like an insurance company headquarters. I guess if I were the IRS, I'd hide, too.

So I finally park and get out of my car and head to the front door. On the door, a sign:In memory of former President Ronald Reagan, the Internal Revenue Service will be closed on June 11, 2004. We will reopen on Monday, June 14th.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :|
