You forgot to ask about our favourite workout music.

Much sympathy. I'm in my mid thirties and have had varied joint and other health issues up the wazoo these past few years. Things seem to be slowly improving, so this week I started lifting embarrassingly light weights and doing yoga type short workouts that are a few steps beyond light stretching on the intensity scale. Guuuh.

I'm still working on my bikini body.

You break your leg, have minor surgery morph to major side effects, reinjure a wonky bicep and turn 50 all in the same year and the combo significantly impacts your fitness. Hoping to have 2016 be the Year Things Went Back To Normal-ish.

Hello! I am in a similar position. I've recently gotten back into training, but have to fight my anxiety each time I leave the flat, so...

What if I get too bulky? I don't want unfeminine muscly arms. I want to lose my belly flab by doing lots of ab crunches on the ab crunch gizmo. Pass me the pink weights, please.

I'm not sure how to find motivation and consistency. I noted recently that my "fat friends" yell at me because I call myself fat when I have a little tummy. The difference is, my grace period/shape is far smaller than theirs - cause, and effect. If you're happy with a little progress then you'll always stop there.

I think a key is finding the gym fun rather than a chore (but some of both). I also keep a written chart and firm schedule - I go on x day and do y thing - non-negotiable.

If it is any help, I've had joint problems and shin splints, and getting stronger fixed or improved all those issues. Strength training is my koolaid.

Welcome back! Good to be honest with yourself, but don't cross over into beating yourself up.
