Hello,
I normally just read the posts here but my mother just reminded me of the upcoming religious fasting month and I'd like to know what you guys think of how to survive it while on an exercise regimen. I've googled 'ramadan' and 'working out' but I'm led to pages discussing bulking and cutting cycles and I'm not at that stage yet. At this point, I'm just interested in getting into habit a good weight-lifting routine. I've just started using the program outlined in this
Stumptuous article, for 2 weeks actually.
It is recommended that a person eats 5 to 6 times a day in 3 hour intervals but I wonder if it would be okay as long as the daily calorie requirements is fulfilled? I'll be having the very first meal before dawn and then no food or drink all the way till sunset. I'm thinking of hitting the gym about an hour before breaking the fast and then have perhaps a shake first before getting home to eat a lot of food. Would that compromise anything gained in the gym the month before? The fast starts around August 21.
I used to play soccer and have gone for trainings before during fasting months. I also lost significant amounts of weight in those months alone. At the moment I'm doing cardio in the form of HIIT sprints on the days I don't go to the gym. I don't want to lose any muscle mass but I do want to lose fat so is it a good idea to do any cardio at all?
Thanks.
