Back home and bloody exhausted

Jun 29, 2005 01:04

Got back late Saturday from a 7 day (was supposed to be 4) excursion with my best friend's family in So. Cal. Details later. I'm still very very tired though. Didn't get a chance to write fic while I was gone. Missed reading it. But at least I got to watch a lot of old school Dr. Who with Tyler (my best friend's son).

The "Details Later". As promised :) part 1 gylzgirl August 17 2005, 21:59:32 UTC
It was Christina, Tyler (her 10 year old son that I basically treat like he's mine), her parents Simon and Lisa in their RV. We left on the Saturday around 7pm and drove to San Luis Obispo, which is on the coast about 4ish hours south of here. We got there around Midnight. We parked in the driveway of Simon and Lisa's friends Joyce and Susan. Simon and Lisa stayed in the house and Christina, Tyler and I slept in the RV. That was fine, except we were on an incline and I woke up about 3 am with a pounding headache and feeling like I was standing on my head. I switched so I felt like I was standing up and that was much better :) Also, I brought a bagload of Doctor Who's for Tyler to watch. I figure this first night is the only night we'll have time to watch, we'll probably be so sleepy every other night. We start "The Five Doctors".

Sunday, we left around 1 for Anaheim. Susan and Joyce in their pick-up which has a fifth wheel attached (if you don't know, and I just learned what it meant myself, a fifth wheel is the kind of RV trailer that attaches to the back of the pickup via a hitch. Whereas RV, like Christina's parents', is all one vehicle.).

Anyway, we get to Anaheim around 7pm and go to the RV park we'll be staying at. We're about a mile down the road from Disneyland and you can see the Matterhorn from where we're at, which I dutifully point out to Tyler. They barbecue and it's dark before we're eating because it took awhile to get everything all set up. Meanwhile, fireworks start overhead. We're close enough to Disneyland, we can see the whole fireworks show while we eat! We realize, this means we're going to get 4 nights of fireworks and we're pretty excited about that. Christina's parents sleep in Joyce and Susan's trailer (it's that big). Which leaves Christina, Tyler and I in the RV (it'll be that way every night). We finish The Five Doctors. I come to the realization that I may have underpacked Doctor Who episodes.

Monday, we get up and take showers at the RV parks' facility. It is FUCKING COLD when you're done though. We get a bit of a late start because of (park opens at 8, we left around 9). We walk to the shuttle stop on the corner and take that to Disneyland. We have 2 day park hopper tickets, which allows us to go back and forth between Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure (but that won't become important until the second day). We split up, Christina, Tyler and me in one group, and the rest of them in the other. We do pretty good as far as the lines go. We get on Matterhorn and Small World within the first hour. We get on most of the important rides. But then it starts to get quite hot and I started to not do so good. I get heat sick very easily unfortunately. And when I do, I start to get very emotional. So about 4pm, we're sitting outside trying to eat something, and I'm really not doing well. Christina gets her bottled water and keeps pressing that to the back of my neck to help. And I'm getting upset that I'm ruining Tyler's time and he tells me I'm not and that he just wants me to be okay. So I start to cry and I've got my hand over my eyes. And suddenly I feel cotton candy being forced into my mouth. The little shit :) So we all start laughing and after about 20 minutes I'm ready to try again. We hit some more rides. We get to see the fireworks, stay until the park closes and then we catch the shuttle back to the RV park. Tyler picks Four To Doomsday for his Doctor Who episode that night.
