GUYS' AND GIRLS' NIGHT OUT

May 13, 2008 13:50

*The scheduled Guys Night Out finally rolls around. Just to make sure Edgeworth and Phoenix hadn't forgotten about it, Larry phones them that day. Repeatedly. Finally, the three are herded together downtown after sunset just outside a parking garage ( Read more... )

IT BEGINS: Lana picks up Adrian lunar_skye May 13 2008, 20:01:43 UTC
*pulls up outside of Adrian's apartment complex, and checks her watch: she's right on time, as she said she'd be. She spends a moment waiting, wondering whether or not to head in: she thinks Adrian said she would meet her outside, but she is unsure*

*Adrian has been standing just inside the apartment parking lot for five minutes, and as a car pulls up, she hesitates--is that Lana? She can't quite tell from this far away; the figure in the driver's seat is just a shadowed silhouette... worried she'll look foolish, Adrian nevertheless steps out into the open, hoping that it is in fact Lana, and giving a small wave towards the figure in the car*

*is relieved to a degree when she sees Adrian coming out of the parking lot, rolling down a window and waving her over. She drops the formalities for the sake of making conversation more natural*

Come on, Adrian! We need to get over to the DeLite's!

*Adrian brightens at finding out that it is, in fact, Lana's car, and she heads over, opening the passenger-side front door and sitting beside Lana, giving the other woman a warm smile* Lana...! It's--it's been a very long time, hasn't it!

*she pauses, looking a bit puzzled* The DeLite's? ...Ron DeLite? *Adrian frowns, not knowing anybody with that particular last name* Why are we going there?

*she returns the smile as she puts the car into gear and pulls out onto the street, working her way back towards the highway*

It has been a long time. You're looking very well.

And yes - Ron DeLite's house, though we're heading over to pick up his wife, Desiree. Angel invited her - she tells me she's a charming woman.

So are you, Lana... you look great! *Adrian beams at her* And doing well for yourself, or so I hear...!

*Adrian buckles her seatbelt as they head on back to the highway* Ah! I-I don't believe I really know her; that is... we haven't met. So it'd be the four of us, then? Or is someone else coming?

Yes, I've been doing very well. I just got a rather large corporate case, and have approached a former partner of mine to enlist his help. I think it will be a good experience for the both of us.

*she comes to the highway, slips into the carpool lane, sets the cruise control, and relaxes in her seat, setting her foot flat*

I think it's the four of us - my car can only comfortably seat four anyway, so let's hope Angel doesn't have any surprises for us.

Oh! Congratulations! You'll have to tell me all--well, no, you probably shouldn't tell me all about it, I suppose. But I'll follow it in the papers.

*Adrian looks out the window, smiling* Let's hope so. ...it's been far too long since I've been out like this. I'm looking forward to it!

*looks at Adrian gazing out the window and can't help smiling*

Good to hear it. I would have figure you would go out more, though. I was reading up on your journal and I saw you've become good friends with the young Miss von Karma?

*She looks back over her shoulder at Lana, her cheeks darkening a bit* Oh, no--not really... Well, er, I mean yes, Franziska and I are... very close friends! She's really a very remarkable and wonderful person once you get to know her. But no, I don't really go out that much--not for myself, anyway. I manage Prosecutor Gavin's band, and so I usually go to most of their shows... but that's business rather than pleasure!

Mr. Gavin? How interesting... my little sister is going out with him, though she hasn't said as much. I don't think she knows I suspect anything.

How is their band? He invited me and Ema to a show, and I have to admit I'm curious. It's been a long time since I've seen any live music.

Really? ...Ema was her name, right? I didn't know they were the same age... *Adrian can't stop a little knowing grin from creeping its way onto her face* ...So would you be the protective big sister type, Lana? *she sighs contentedly, sitting back against the car seat* That's very sweet of you. Sometimes I wish I'd had a sister!

*at Lana's second question, she frowns* Well, they're... I suppose they're very good for the type of music they play, but I can't say it's to my personal taste. It's so... loud. But you should come! It'd be a fun occasion!

I don't know if I would describe myself as "protective", but...yes, I do try to watch out for Ema. Mr. Gavin seems like a good type, but it's always good to get another perspective on that kind of thing.

Loud, you say? It might be worth it just or the experience, then... Are you acting as the band's agent exclusively, or do you also have other clients?

Of course! Mr. Gavin seems like a... he's very dedicated to his work. Well, his music, I can't say the same for his other job. But his dedication says something if nothing else, I suppose...!

And I have other clients--I work freelance, and while I spend a good amount of time working for the Gavinners, I have plenty of other time to devote to other tasks!

*Adrian looks over at Lana out of the corner of her eyes* Have you been in touch with Mr. Wright lately? It's not really a job; I couldn't ever ask him to pay me--but recently I've been trying to find places for his daughter to work on her magic and perform, actually.

*she nods through Adrian's explanation, taking all of that in and filing it away - and when Adrian mentions Trucy, Lana smiles with a look of understanding*

I thought she was only kidding when she said she was a "working girl". Has she had opportunity to perform yet, or are you still looking?

*is waiting outside her apartment, clad in dark red and black leather pants with a black halter top and open fur-trimmed red leather jacket, pacing and fiddling with her purse and hair, clearly unable to stand still for more than a minute*
