Marcus Aurelius is inconsistent. At one point he says "nothing is evil which is according to nature" and barely 2 pages later he says of the body and soul "the one is intelligence and deity; the other is earth and corruption." I have been reading, among other things, selections from the Harvard Classics, a 51-book set that was compiled by then-Harvard University President Charles W. Eliot in 1909.
