So I had to go down to New Orleans this morning to pick up my films from the doctor's office, which is in a more residential area than where I usually go. It's sobering to see, almost three years later, how much destruction there still is. Abandoned houses with clear hurricane damage, houses still with the FEMA codes on them, on-going ( Read more... )

Having lived here for even 6 months, I guess I've gotten used to it. Not to downplay any of what's going on in New Orleans, but it's amazing what becomes just a part of daily life.

What was strange was going home to Maryland for Christmas...it was so, well, normal and functioning. As much as I enjoyed seeing my family, I couldn't wait to get back here.
