I just got a 1TB external drive, and finally got around to drilling holes in my bookshelf/desk for wiring, and am about halfway done with painting our garage. I also went on a two-hour bike ride and a two-hour cross-country horse ride today so my backside is sore. I think I want to pick up riding again but my first priority has to be working my tail off on my portfolio. Oh also I start teaching piano lessons for the year on Tuesday as well as starting my TA job at Whitworth. So yeah I'm going to be pretty darned busy again until December or so! I wish I would've taken advantage of the summer more, but since I feel healthier and better-adjusted than I did getting out of school in June, I guess this will have to do.
I've also been wondering about finishing Black Box lately- whether it's worth it and what to do with the plot, the characters... I feel like it's really undeveloped right now but at the same time I think there's a lot of good stuff there that I haven't seen in the books I've read lately. I keep picking up some work of fiction and going, "This got published? Really? Somebody got paid for this?" I think this is largely a product of my ignorance of the industry as well as my ignorance of what the general public really wants in a work of fiction. I don't think I ever stand a chance of getting published but at the same time I don't understand how those people do.
It's too late and I'm too sore for such conjecturing. When I was taking down the skis and boards my dad's first-generation snowboard (with fins on!) fell and hit me in the hip pretty badly, and when I was loading Abby (my cob) into the trailer today she tried to back up and smashed my arm into the wall of the trailer. This is besides the butthurtedness of riding a bike and a horse in the same day. Whine whine whine!
