Mirai stared at the wailing baby just in front of her. The little boy was very red from crying. His mom was frantically trying to calm him, but he was crying and thrashing more violently by the second. The mother was maybe just a few years older than Mirai.
"Mirai-chan." Ryosuke called.
"Hmm?" Mirai replied and Ryosuke's heart pounded.
"I said we should sit down." Ryosuke said.
They were on the train going to their respective HQs. No, they were not together, as much as Ryosuke wanted them to be, but they were friends. And it so happened that both of them were called to their HQs today after class so they decided to go together since it's the same way.
"Oh..." Mirai said, sitting down but still not letting her eyes off the mother and child.
Ryosuke followed her gaze.
"What's wrong with him, d'you reckon?" He asked softly, looking at the baby.
"I don't know.... maybe the mom should stop moving him around like that." Mirai whispered back. The mother was rocking the baby, trying to calm him down but the baby just continued crying.
"Do you think so? Is this something you learned from Jyuu-yon sai?" Ryosuke asked.
"No, just looking at it from the baby's point of view." Mirai said. "Would you want to be rocked like that? I'd feel awful...maybe that's why he's crying. At first it might be another reason but now I think he's just uncomfortable."
"And dizzy." Ryosuke added.
Mirai giggled. "And that's why you were bit by Kuu." She said.
Ryosuke smiled but looked perplexed. "How did you know about that?"
"Read it from a magazine." She said.
"You read Duet?" Ryosuke asked, feeling a bit hopeful. Hey, it is something if the one you like is actually interested in you.
"I've read some. Miyuu's. I think she likes someone from your agency but she wouldn't tell me. Funny really, I could introduce her since I'm friends with you guys." She said laughing more.
"Ah..." Ryosuke said, feeling a bit down.
They became silent as they watched the mother and son. The baby was still crying very loud and the other passengers were already looking in concern.
A middle-aged woman approached the mother and said something to her. The mother stopped rocking the baby and tried to give him milk. The baby rejected it. The middle-aged woman said something again and then the mother checked the baby's diaper. The baby still continued to cry and the mother started rocking him again.
"Why don't you tell her what you think?" Ryosuke said to Mirai.
"No way." She said immediately. "I don't really know much about babies, I might be wrong."
The middle-aged woman talked to the mother again and the mother stopped rocking the baby. Instead, she started caressing the baby's back. The baby was still crying but his cry were getting softer and softer.
Ryosuke smiled.
"You were right." He said to Mirai, looking at her.
Mirai just shrugged humbly.
"It's good he stopped crying." She said, smiling and looking at the baby.
Ryosuke smiled at her smile. "You'll be a great mom.." He suddenly said.
Mirai looked at him. "What was that all of the sudden?" She asked giggling.
Ryosuke shrugged, chuckling too. "Just a random thought I accidentally let slip."
Mirai laughed. "Well, I don't know about that. My mom's always scolding me cause I'm always bullying Miyuu. I think you'd make a better mom."
"What?" Ryosuke asked. He was expecting to be told he'd be 'a better dad' not 'a better mom.'
Mirai seems to struggle not to laugh, "I don't know... Just the way you take care of Chii. And Yuto would definitely be a great dad." She explained.
Ryosuke looked aghast that Mirai laughed out loud. "It was just a joke!" She said.
"Please don't kid about that... It's..." Ryosuke trailed off, apparently not finding a word to describe what he feels.
Mirai laughed more, "Okay, okay...Actually, Miyuu found some stories like that on the internet. Kinda disturbing, really. You're not...?"
"No we're not!" Ryosuke said immediately and Mirai laughed more.
The baby looked in their direction because of Ryosuke's outburst. Ryosuke and the baby stared at each other and then Ryosuke made a silly face. The baby laughed.
Ryosuke started making faces for the baby's entertainment. Mirai was laughing along with the baby.
The mother glance at Mirai and bowed at her, thanking her. Mirai blushed. Does she think they were together?
Mirai awkwardly bowed back.
The train slowed down and Mirai tugged on Ryosuke. "We're here."
Ryosuke looked up, it seems he didn't noticed. As the train stop, the two of them said goodbye to the baby and went closer to the door. There were so many people so Ryosuke took Mirai's hand.
Mirai squished his hand to call his attention.
Ryosuke looked at her.
She smiled at him, "You'll be a great dad."
Ryosuke smiled shyly and scratched his head.
They separated when they got out the station going towards their respective head quarters.

"Konnichiwa." Ryosuke called as he entered the room.
"Yamada-san." their manager said. "We'll be having a meeting about an offer for another drama. Do you know the manga 'Daa! Daa! Daa!'? It's a live adaptation of that manga. You'll be the lead, Saionji Kanata and you might be working with Shida Mirai, she's been offered the role of Kouzuki Miyu. I think they're doing negotiations today as well."

Miyu Kouzuki is an 8th-grade student whose parents leave for the United States to work for NASA and arrange for her to stay with their long-time family friend, Hōsho Saionji, a monk who lives at an old temple atop a hill. However, the monk himself leaves soon after for India on a year-long voyage, leaving Miyu in having to stay together in the same house with his son, Kanata.
Suddenly, the landing of a UFO which transports an alien baby, Ruu, along with his cat-like "sitterpet", Wannyā, who arrive after they were separated from their own planet, Otto, due to falling into an interplanetary worm hole, a time warp which can transport objects across several regions, planets and timeplanes. They cannot return to their home planet due to it being too difficult to reach, and Wannyā therefore requests Kanata and Miyu that they allow them to stay in their house. They agree. Miyu and Kanata learn from Wannyā that people from Planet Otto look identical to human beings, and that he himself can transform into human beings, animals and objects.
Miyu and Kanata feel a very deep love for Baby Ruu, who also cares for them deeply and likens them to his parents due to their similar looks, and often go to great lengths to help and protect him and Wannyā. As the story progresses, the group are often involved in comedic and funny situations but grow to greatly love each other. The story ends with a rescue team from outer space coming to Earth and returning Ruu and Wannyā to Otto safely and Miyu going to a boarding school alone. Though years later Miyu and Kanata reunite, get married and have a daughter named Miu. They also reunite with Wannya and Ruu.
would be fun if they really made a live adaptation for this. xD
