AN:
-UNBETA-ed, rushed. really, i'm not sure about this one. this is probably a fail.
-not really a Christmas fic.
-now I know how hard it is to plan a wedding. T-T
No doubt this is the grandest wedding of the year; of the century, even.
Well, the ones getting married are grand people.
Yeap, the day has finally arrived. It was December 18, Kamiki Ryunosuke and Fukuda Mayuko's wedding day.
The date was supposed to be after Christmas, but Mayu-nee insisted on this date cause she 'wanted to spend Christmas as husband and wife.'
Of course their guests were big people as well.
Ryun's friends from high school were all there and we all knew who they were. The whole Hey! Say! 7 were there. Irie Jingi, and Ogawa Hayato as well, and that dude that I never remember the name, just the face. And of course, Sakamoto Shougo, Ryun's Best Man.
Ryun's female classmates were there as well. Yamada Mirai, who Ryun already consider his sister. I've met her tons of times before, she always visits us. There's also Ohgo Suzuka and Kawashima Umika and the whole lot of their class in high school. I don't really know much about them. Ryun would only always talk about the boys.
There were Ohgo Suzuka and Mizusawa Nako who were also friends of Mayu-nee, as well as Kawashima Umika who'd arrived with Chinen Yuri.
Friends from both Ryun's and Mayu-nee's agencies were there as well.
Ueno Juri-san and Toda Erika-san were present. And there were Haruma Miura and Sato Takeru.
Amami Yuki, Kaname Jun, Matsuyama Kenichi and Nagase Tomoya were also there. Really, I think the whole entertainment industry is present.
There were the producers, and directors. There were some politicians and other media people. I was expecting to see the President. I'm thankful he weren't there or else I'll really go nuts.
Fukuda Kenji, of course were there, along with his former band mates.
I wasn't kidding when I said it was grand.
I'm really grateful Mayu-nee didn't enter Horikoshi in her high school, at least there are still some normal people in the area.
But everywhere there were cameras and press. Every corner of the place a camera was flashing.
It was grand, but it felt fake. Well, for me at least.
It was as if everyone was here just for face.
It was already very very busy but the wedding hadn't even started.
The bride hadn't even arrived, actually.
I glanced around, it was really a feat to see, well, people you don't know.
I looked around more and finally saw Ryun. He was with Shougo-nii. He looked like he was ready to pass out. I smirked and made my way to him.
He'd seen me coming.
"Don't tease right now." He said before I could even open my mouth.
I laughed, "What's with you?"
"I'm nervous okay? Just don't tease." He said and he really looked nervous.
Shougo-nii patted him on the back. It looked like he was struggling not to laugh at his best friend, too.
I took pity on Ryun. "Hey, this is your day. You should be jumping with joy." I said.
He looked at me. "Okay... I changed my mind. Just tease me, you're scaring me with the concerned voice."
I swat him playfully. He chuckled. "That's more like it." He said.
Shougo-nii smiled at me. Wow, I think I made my dear couz relax. Way to go me!
Ryun is the oldest among us cousins, but we never really used honorifics among us. I don't really know why... I guess it's because our parents are only calling us by our names and we got used to calling each other just by names as well.
I looked back at Ryun but he was pale again. Paler than before. He was staring straight at my back.
I turned around. Mayu-nee was here. We couldn't really see her cause everyone was blocking the view.
I patted Ryun. "Congrats, couz."
He smiled but he didn't look at me. He was looking straight at the entrance, even though he still couldn't see Mayu-nee. I smirked and looked at Shougo-nii.
'Whipped.' He mouthed. I giggled.
"I'd better get going now." I said to both of them and I went in line. I was one of the bridesmaids. "You two better get going, too."
Shougo-nii nodded at me and stirred Ryun away.
Everyone settled to their places.
The cameras were actually annoying.
When the procession began, every single camera and lights were focused on us. Well, some on Ryun's face but really, I think I'll go blind with all the lights and flashes.
I sighed, I guess we can't help it. It was a good thing there were many aisles.
There were four aisles covered with white poinsettia petals. The sits were arranged in a round manner and the altar was in the middle.
The priest entered through the north aisle and went to the altar.
Ryun entered through the east aisle, closely followed by Shougo-nii.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen were divided. There were five pairs. We would enter through the four aisles one by one.
The first to enter was Mayu-nee's friend, Luna-san escorted by Haruma Miura. They entered through the south aisle. Then another friend, Lauren-san, escorted by Irie Jingi entered through the west aisle.
Then it was our turn. I and Chinen-san entered through the east aisle. I was so nervous I was sure I'd fall on my face but fortunately, we made it to the middle and Chinen-san escorted me to my seat. He then went to his own seat beside Irie-san.
The next to enter were the Mirai-nee and Yama-nii. They entered through the north aisle. And finally, Suzuka-san was escorted by Yuto-san. They entered through the south aisle.
After that it was the Maid of Honor's turn. It was Mayu-nee's best friend, Mai-nee. Before, Mayu-nee would always visit with Mai-nee. They've been friends since high school.
I looked at Mai-nee and was moved when I saw she was blinking back tears. She must be happy that Mayu-nee was finally going to get married. She entered through the south aisle.
The Flower Girls then walked through the aisles. Everyone of them was so cute. The gowns they wore had different styles. Everyone was actually wearing designer's gown. We wore the same theme color but that's the only thing that's uniform.
There were three flower girls. Our youngest cousin, Nikka-chan was wearing a white balloon gown with baby blue frills. Mayu-nee's cousin, Shinju-chan was wearing a white flowing dress and Urufu-chan, another cousin of hers, was wearing a white beaded bodice gown. They all looked like dolls.
They walked at the same time coming from different aisles. Nikka-chan from the north, Urufu-chan from east, and Rei-chan from the west.
I envy those three. They didn't seem to care much about the cameras.
Then the ring bearer, our own cousin, Haruto-kun and the coin bearer, Kawashima Umika's nephew, Kyuu-kun also entered at the same time coming from the east and west aisle.
And then finally, it was Mayu-nee's turn.
Everyone was looking to the south aisle where Mayu-nee entered with her dad. And of course, every camera was focused on her. Oh, I think some few are focused on Ryun's as well.
She was so breathtakingly beautiful. It was as if she was shining. She looked really happy.
I glanced at Ryun then and wanted to laughed cause of the look on his face. I'd gladly approach him and tell him to close his mouth but of course, I didn't want to ruin the moment for him.
But I'll definitely asked for a copy. That cameraman, I'll talk to him later.
Mayu-nee and her dad seems to walk so slowly but they'd reach the altar soon enough.
Ryun bowed at Fukuda-san and Fukuda-san bowed back at him, giving him his daughter's hand.
Ryun took it. Mayu-nee gave him as dazzling smile and Ryun returned it tentatively. He looked like he could be sick. He must be really nervous. But he looked so happy at the same time.
They didn't even seem to see the blinding light and flashing cameras around them.
I really hate these cameras. They make the whole occasion seems fake. It looked like this was just another film. Another job for the two.
The service started as we all sat down.
Well, you know how wedding goes. Wedding readings... Signing of marriage license... Then the vows... Aunt and Mayu-nee's mom started crying then. And I could even see Uncle fighting back tears. It was really an emotional moment. I didn't cry though. With the camera on both Ryun's and Mayu-nee's faces, and the annoying light set solely on their faces, they even had a hard time reading through the vows. It really ruined the moment.
After that was the exchange of wedding rings. I didn't know what the two were talking about then, but it made me smile when I saw both of them laughing as they put the rings on each other's hand.
Then they were blessed. And of course, the wedding kiss.
Many people laughed when Ryun's friends started wolf-whistling. Ryun ignored them though. All his attention was held by Mayu-nee. People applauded when they broke apart and then silly Ryun faced his friends and shouted, "Yeah!" raising both arms.
I was starting to tear up then. Late, but it was just such a happy occasion. No tears fell though cause the annoying cameraman started talking to Ryun and suddenly they were doing the kiss again. For the video of course. And then again. It really irked me that those guys were here. It makes this all seems fake.
After a while, the media finally let them off. Pictures were taken. One of just our family, one of just Mayu-nee's, one of both families combined. A picture of the bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and the bearers were also taken. And then pictures with friends from school, friends from agencies, friends from works. We also took a picture of just us cousins.
Ryun was so happy he was all but bouncing. I think he's one step away from exploding out of sheer happiness.
Next was the recession. We all watched as Ryun and Mayu-nee walked the north aisle now as husband and wife.
The newly-weds would be changing shortly while the guests were instructed to go to a different part of the garden.
I feel like I am in a fairy tale.
And I'm only one of the guests. How would the main celebrant feel? I'd feel overwhelmed, if it was me.
It seemed impossible but when I entered the garden, I thought I'd entered another world.
This must be how Alice felt when she landed on wonderland. Not really much of an exaggeration, seriously.
Anyway, the garden was just sooooo beautiful and majestic.
It was filled with so many flowers. Roses, daisies, irises, calla lilies, freesias, hydrangeas, even poinsettias. Well, Yule is the bride's favorite season.
And then there were butterflies. Real live butterflies flying throughout the garden. I don't really know how they did all these. There were fountains for goodness sake, and the water is in different colors, and it's not a trick of the light. I wonder how much that cost. And what is that liquid, it smells nice.
And then there was an ice sculptures. Not just one, but three. One was a sculpture of kissing swans with their necks forming a heart, another one was of an angel and the last one was a dog. I heard it was a gift for the bride.
And the view was so beautiful. The lake can be seen. It was already sunset and the orange tinge set everything more beautifully. It really seems magical.
The celebration started with the entrance of the newlyweds. Yama-nii was the emcee. He was okay, I guess. His jokes weren't that good but since his friends were laughing at him and not his jokes, all the guests enjoyed them.
Mayu-nee's friends from school prepared a slideshow for the couple. And now I only realized how long RyuKo have been. Since 'Little DJ.' Mayu-nee's friends got a hold of their many pictures and even some clips.
Then of course, the dinner. The food was extravagant. Unfortunately, I don't eat much during occasions like these. I don't really know why myself, but I guess that's just me.
The couple didn't eat dinner though. While the guest were eating, they went table hopping for souvenir pictures. It must be tough, but I don't think they minded. They looked so happy I think they wouldn't mind not eating tomorrow as well. But I mind. Not really about the food, but those irritating media's who're following them around! Jeez! When will they leave?!
After dinner, it was time for the Bouquet Throw. Mayu-nee's cousins and friends as well as Ryun's high school friends, save for Mirai-nee, all gathered in front. Ryun was actually calling me over, too but I just stuck my tongue at him. Being the only girl among us cousins, I've became a bit boyish.
Mayu-nee threw the bouquet and everyone made a grab but in the end it was Kawashima Umika who got the bouquet. We all applauded as Kawashima laughed.
Ryun then retrieve the garter from Mayu-nee. Supposedly, next should have been the Garter Toss. Instead though, Ryun grinned mischievously to his friends and approached them. I stood up then cause I couldn't see what was happening. Yes, cameramen's fault. Ryun grab someone's hand and placed the garter there. I looked closer and realized it was Chinen Yuri. The boys wolf-whistled and the girls started teasing Kawashima-san. Hmmm, so there's an issue there, huh? I'm sure tomorrow this'll be on the news.
A chair was propped by the front then. Kawashima-san sat. And with lots of teasing and whoops and pushing from the boys, Chinen-san crouched next to Kawashima-san and put the garter on her. Both of them were so red, I laughed. Really, it must have been a fun high school in Horikoshi for Ryun. I mean, they all were supposed to be adults, but look at them tonight.
After that, Yama-nii announced it was time for the First Dance. And of course, it wasn't just the newlyweds who went to the dance floor, following them closely were the cameras. Ugh.
They took their first dance. And after the first song, Fukuda-san approached the couple and danced with Mayu-nee. In the meantime, Ryun went for aunt. They also danced. Then Mayu-nee with uncle and Ryun with Mayu-nee's mom. Then after that, everyone also started going to the dance floor.
I didn't see when Ryun approached me. I was watching Yama-nii and Mirai-nee dancing. He came from behind me and purposely surprised me. I whacked him playfully.
"Care to dance?" he asked.
"Ryun, you know I have two left feet." I said. I'm not really fond of dancing.
"I have two right feet. It'll be balanced." He joked. I laughed. "C'mon, for me?"
I sighed it was his wedding day. He grinned and pulled me to the dance floor. We danced very weirdly, just swaying and twirling. I was the one who was twirling Ryun. We laughed as we danced. I was starting to have a good time but then a camera flashed.
"Ugh!" I complained.
"What is it?" Ryun asked.
"These cameras are really getting on my nerves." I said. He gave me a soft smile.
"Doesn't it annoy you? I mean, I don't even know if all these big-name-guests are sincere or are just acting because of the cameras all over the place." I hissed.
"No, I don't really mind." He said.
The music changed from waltz to pop. And that was my cue to go back to my seat.
Now, Ryun was dancing with Mayu-nee once more. And of course the cameras were on them again.
But Ryun said he didn't mind. I looked closer to the couple. They were talking about something. Both of them have wide smiles on their faces. The song was upbeat but they were swaying as if the song was still waltz.
Ryun said something and Mayu-nee laughed.
And then she tiptoed and touched his lips for a second.
There was a flash.
I seethed.
But the two of them didn't seem to mind. They didn't even blink. They continued swaying.
Ryun tucked a lock behind Mayu-nee's ears. She'd smile at him.
Another flash.
Still, they didn't seem to mind. They were still talking.
And then I saw Mayu-nee's face scrunched up. And Ryun laughed. Seems he's teasing her about something.
Ryun looked at Mayu-nee, and you could see how much he adores her. As if everything he ever wanted was in front of him. And it was. I saw him mouthed the words 'I love you.'
Mayu-nee smiled and mouthed 'Love you too. So much.'
Ryun hugged her and they continued to sway even though all around them people were dancing through Hey! Say! JUMP's latest single.
Flash. Flash. Flash.
Really don't these guys know when to stop??
Still the couple ignored them. It was as if they don't see them.
And that's when I realized.
They really don't see them.
"I don't really mind." Ryun had told me.
That's because all this time, he hadn't notice them.
All he could see was Mayu-nee. And Mayu-nee was the same.
It might seem fake to the others, but for them it was real.
It was a grand occasion but not because of these guests and this setting. It was because it was their wedding day. The day they finally become one. Simple as that.
Nope, no camera could ruin this day for them. I smiled at that thought. Since this afternoon I've been thinking about everything from petals to sculptures to cameras but really, all of them are unimportant.
Ryun gestured to the lake. An invitation for a stroll.
Mayu-nee nodded.
They walked towards the lake, and away from the noise.
The camera were soon to follow.
It wasn't really important but I really really really wanted to hugged Shougo-nii when finally he intercepted and told the media to let the couples be.
It was already dark, but I could see the silhouette of the two.
I saw Ryun held out his hand.
Mayu-nee took it.
I smiled.
They joined hands, and with their hands, their hearts, their lives, their world...
And yes, no cameras in there.
END.
