Seeing her for the first time was one of the happiest days of his life.

Holding her in his hands, he felt like it was a dream.

She was so precious to him, Yumiko, his and Mirai's daughter.

Ryosuke wanted to have a daughter first, then a son, then another daughter, just like him and his sisters.

But that didn't come true. They first had a son, Akiyoshi, then another son, Yuta.

He thought he wouldn't have a daughter that he didn't realize having Yumiko had been his dream. And holding her now, so fragile, so tiny, felt so unreal.

She looks just like her mother. He said so to Mirai.

But Mirai argued that she looks more like Ryosuke.

He showed her to her brothers.

Five years old Aki was just staring at her, a small smile planted on his lips. Three years old Yuta was grinning, saying "I'll be the best oniichan!"

Ryosuke looked at his family, trying to keep the picture printed in his memory forever.

He was so happy; he thought he didn't deserve this kind of happiness. Having Mirai was already so much, but he was still blessed with three lovely children.

Ryosuke smiled at Mirai, and she returned it, glowing.

Everything Ryosuke ever wanted was in that room.

"Mama, when will daddy come home?" ten years old Yumiko asked Mirai for the fourth time.

"Soon." Mirai automatically said. Ryosuke was a little late. He mailed a little while ago that he was already leaving HQ. Their HQ wasn't really far away so she was wondering what was taking him too long.

"Geez, Yumi, stop asking and asking the same questions." Yuta said irritably.

Yumiko stuck her tongue at him and Mirai knew this would start another fight from her children. Good thing Aki interfered.

"Yuta." he warned. "And Yumi, don't annoy your oniichan too much, ne? He's grumpy."

Yumiko giggled and Yuta frowned.

"Yuta-nii, be more like Aki-nii, he's way cooler than you!" she teased.

Yuta was about to retort but the door opened and Yumiko stood up at once.

"Daddy!" she called.

But it wasn't their Daddy, it was their uncle Yuto.

Mirai moved closer to him once she saw him. He was covered in blood.

"Yuto! What happened? Are you okay? Where's--" Mirai asked.

He drops his suitcase by the door

"Mirai... Ryosuke..." was the only thing he uttered and then he shook his head, and a tear fell from his eyes.

Mirai collapsed.

Aki at once came to aid their mom.

Yuta run to his godfather and shook him, "Where's Dad?!"

"He... he was in an accident. He's in the hospital... but he's in critical condition... I don't think he'll--"

"DON'T SAY THAT!" Yuta shouted. For the first time in his life, he was angry with his godfather.

Yumiko just stood there feeling numb. She didn't know why but

She knows her daddy won't be back anymore

She drags her feet across the floor and went to where their family picture was.

She took it and hugged it. She cried silently.

Tryin' to hold back time, to keep him holdin' on.

They were in the hospital. Ryosuke was in coma.

Now she hasn't slept in weeks

She was always by her father's side. She wouldn't leave for anything, even if it was his Aki-nii who was telling her to leave.

Mirai was putting up a front. She was acting as if everything was fine. She was laughing and talking to Ryosuke even if she wasn't getting any response.

For the first time, her children saw through her acting.

This scares Yumiko.

She doesn’t wanna close her eyes 'cause she's scared that he'll leave.

She never stopped watching his Dad.

Every day, doctors would visit her dad and perform tests. She didn't really understand but she could see that the doctors were desperate. Do they even know what they're doing to her daddy?

The doctors said they tried just about everything but it's gettin' harder now for him to breathe.

She didn't believe them, she moved closer to Ryosuke

And she say, "Daddy, Daddy don't leave
I'll do anything to keep you
Right here with me
Can't you see how much I need you??"

Mirai after hearing her, left the room. She knew her mommy would be crying again. She hears her at night.

She talked to her daddy once more,

"Daddy, Daddy, don't leave
The doctors are sayin' things they don't mean
They don't know what they're talkin' about"

'Somebody hear me out?' she thought.

That night, Yumiko prayed,

"Please don't let him go, I'm beggin' you so.

She didn't know what else to do. She was just a little girl.

She was now regretting that she's been overlooking his dad. She would always ask about him to her mom but when he got home she would avoid him. Her dad would just laugh at this and say that his little princess was growing up.

She wants to return back to those times and make them different.

"...Let him open eyes, I need a little more time to tell him that I love him more than anything in the world."

She felt someone touch his head from behind; that was always what her daddy does. She turned around but it was only Aki-nii. He was smiling sadly at her.

"I'm sorry Yumi-chan, it's just me."

She hugged her Nii.

She prayed once more.

"Father, listen tell him that he's got a home..."

All of them were waiting for him to wake up. Her mom, her Aki-nii, her Yuta-nii and especially her.

"...and he don't have to go. Father, save him."

She looked at her Nii.

"Why isn't daddy waking up? Did I do something wrong?" she asked him.

"No Yumi, of course not. It's not your fault." he said.

"Please make him wake up; I would do anything in return. I'll clean my room, try hard in school, I'll be good, I promise you." she said.

Aki's tears silently fell.

"I wish I could wake him Yumi, but I can't. I don't have the power to do that. I'm not as cool as you think so."

"Father, Father" Yumiko prayed.

She was daddy's little girl

She was daddy's little princess.

But the next day, daddy was no more.

END.
